2020 is dead. Long live 2021!

Let’s all hope that the new year brings us even more great Bruery beer to enjoy than the one that just finished...and far fewer reasons to need it.

Beat me to it! Surprised the mods didn’t delete it, because, “it’s not 2021 yet.” Maybe they let up this year.

I miss OG bakery... and Churrosity 2.0 (the barrel aged one).

    Don’t mess with perfection IMO

Speaking of perfection... 2020 BTGR and CRe... OMG!!!!

Exactly, it's from the Hoarder Box. It's the wheatwine base, so you can almost think of it as a white chocolate variant.

Drank the Gluhwein from my Hoarders box last night. It's just as good as I remember it from last time! Generally, I don't favor the wine barrel-aged beers (unless it's port) as much as I do the bourbon barrel-aged beers. But the wine barrel aging plus the mulling spices really work well together. Hope this one comes around again next year.

Final beer from my one year in RS. 2013 BT with original Rastal tulip that I've used regularly since 2009/2010.

The beer is everything I hoped it would be.

    Happy New Year!

We've got a couple of those glasses and use them for most beers. They're darn near perfect.

For a Spell really is quite good, definitely get the boozy brownie batter BCBS vibes, and I mean that in a good way as I think most did when they compared the two.

It's quite a bit different than BT / SHIT stouts, not sure if it's the yeast or mashbill or what, but it has a great heft to it (like Perrenial stouts) despite not having a terribly high abv.

I just put a stopper in it to finish tomorrow, makes me want to buy a BCBS for a blind showdown. I know GI has economies of scale far above the Bruery, but dollar for dollar I still would like to see how that shakes out. I do not like GI for a lot of reasons, but regular BCBS is a damn good value, and it really is better than 95% of "real craft" BA Stouts. It's a great recipe and they get awesome barrels. Excited to see if For a Spell can best their benchmark.

Pre-societies Bruery you bought a flight and kept the tulip, right? At least that's why I think I have so many of those things at the house

Ours were parting gifts at a Bruery Beer Week event in San Francisco in 2015, so yeah I assume quantities were plentiful.

They had the reserve society pretty much since day 1. During The 1st release of BT you could sign up for reserve society.

For me, For a Spell has a stronger roast malt profile and more of a dark chocolate vibe than BCBS. It's a top notch beer on it's own merit and I find BCBS sweeter with a different taste profile. Not hugely different but each is unique. You can't get past economies of scale though and while I hate Goose Island sold out to Inbev BCBS is my number one bang for the buck bal-aged stout.
    Happy New Year all!

Did you split all of it between days 1 & 3? Or will you have some on a third night? I've never done one split over more than two sessions.

Opened on day 1 and finished on day 3. Day 2 remained in fridge unopened only because I got carried away doing errands.
