Sipping on a Wheatland Spring On A Day Like Today and I am guessing I should consider paying another visit out there to pick up beer, have a couple pints, and enjoy a cuban sandwich.

Looks like Von Trapp is going to start distributing to DC, which is good news for the new year.

Anyone sign up for the Churchkey beer club? By the time I decided to do it, it was sold out.

This is excellent news. Now I won’t have to drive into Virginia every time I want an excellent lager

They have a couple of fire pits and an igloo or two that you can reserve. I think both require parties of 4 or more. The other tables are distanced if it happens to not be too cold or your appropriately dressed.

I'm assuming this is referring to the Beer Academy with Greg Engert? It crossed my mind and I would have welcomed it as a gift from my in-laws but they didn't get the hint. The price was a little steep for me not knowing at least the breweries that were included.

Von Trappe is sighted now in MD. Picked up a 12 pack mixer today (Helles, Pils, Dunkel, Vienna). $20. Ive been to the brewery in VT twice and they make great authentic European lagers. Highly recommend to try their beers. I’m partial to their Helles lager as my favorite. Their Oktoberfest/Marzen as well.

That’s the one. Worked out to about $50 for each set of 12 beers, which actually might not be that bad if they’re all different (since singles get marked up), mainly 16oz, out-of-market/rare, Belgian imports, etc... plus you get the classes with Greg— the man knows his stuff. Would be interested to hear about the experience from anyone who signed up.

Got a delivery from Wheatland Spring and gotta say, the Italian Pilsner (Alberto) collab with Phil Runco is really good. Light malt character with that fruity floral grapey hop character. Worth checking out if you're thinking about heading out that way.

Downtown Crown is getting a bunch of NY Other Half collab beers today, mostly 10%-ish TIPAs. Last week at Dominion I got All Citra Everything from the DC brewery and it was outstanding.

I'm giving this a try again right now and this batch of ACE was a disappointment for me. Overly bitter and dry, with little of that hop juiciness one expects from the style. It's not bad but definitely not up to par. I've been vocal about it in the OH thread, they just don't have their shit together yet. Some of the beers coming out of DC have been awful.

The exception being the single hop Forever series stuff I've had (the HBC 586 and Mosaic single IPAs at 6.5%). Really good stuff.

Not have had All Citra previously, I thought it was good but nothing mind blowing. There was something a bit out of balance. I chalked it up to the choice of hops but it could have just been my pallette responding better to some of those Cushwa beers that showed up in the last couple of weeks.

I actually like bitter NEIPAs, so maybe it's a taste thing. My review of the beer from a few years ago (which was a NY brew) notes the bitterness, so idk. I liked it though.

Picked up a 4 pack of Lost Weekend last night from Rustico last night with dinner. The Citra really popped. I know Bluejacket is kind of an afterthought sometimes, but I'm hardly ever disappointed by their IPAs - which was not the case when I first was introduced to their beer a few years ago.
