I'll take Chicago as most likely spot outside the MA.

Can anyone tell me what the difference between small strata everything and forever strata might be?

I know they gave some insight on how the chroma beers differ from the small ____ everything beers, with an “even more pared down malt base and some different hopping techniques”.

I haven’t had any OH beer in about 6 months or so. They release too many beers to keep up. Are there any recent beers worth seeking out?

I think the same explanation applies and the forever base is a bit wheatier. The chromas are more of a pilsner malt base. The small ____ lies somewhere in between. Also the house yeast at each location is fairly different.

Yes and no? Are you asking if they make good beer? Depending on what you like. It's different than it was two to three years ago. Some of it has a melony note (kind of like old Tree House did) that we're divided on.

Are you asking if it's worth trading for? Depends on what you have available to you already.

Lack of clarity aside, the DC beers have been a pleasant surprise. I've never thought of Other Half as doing stereotypical New England haze, that their beers are more of an abrasive hop punch than a cozy cloud of hoppy cuddles. The DC beers have actually been that fluffy stereotypical NEIPA and remind me more of something by Tilted Barn than a traditional OH ipa. But again, if you have someone near you that checks that box, no need to seek these out.

As per stouts, they're still sweet. Snowbirds and Velvet Magnum were both solid.

A meet up being feasible I think that date is doable. In terms of broad / normal attendance - over as well. Next time we have 20 people doing a blind taste test using 2-3 glasses. That one’ll be June 15 2023.

I'm done with IPA thanks to Mountain Dew Major Melon becoming a permanent flavor!

I know this isn't Soda Advocate, but if this guy is to be believed you might be onto something.

It was hard to watch it without thinking of the uncanny similarities to beer reviews and certain strains of craft beer fanboyism. I was especially taken with his description that it was redolent of "the middle of summer and all the good times." I haven't had soda in more than a decade, but I'm gonna be looking out for this one.

Edit: You should change your avatar to that Major Melon character. It'd be shots fired towards @afroskully for sure, but the ensuing internecine conflict would really drive up the page count here in the early days of the new year.

Baltic Porter is essentially pastry stout for purebois who would likely make an exception for chocolate, coffee, and/or vanilla in a dark beer?

Ooof - a proper pureboi I'm not sure. one rung down - refinedbutopenmindedboi - yeah I think those three are generally acceptable (artisanal 80%+ cocoa chocolate, single origin coffee, Madagascan vanilla etc though, not hersheys/folgers/extract)

Ha, that review is awesome as is the Major Melon character. @afroskully might just be haunted by Major Melon, out there looking to avenge fallen family members.

Well, have I missed anything the last 2 weeks? I unfortunately got pretty sick and found out I had appendicitis 2 weeks ago which required immediate surgery. Thankfully I am okay, fully recovered now, and feeling back to normal!

I did manage to grab Double Liquid Gems as recommended by @algebeeric_topology and drank one the weekend before everything went south for me, it was really good at the time. I have 3 sitting in my fridge since I haven't been able to drink for a bit, hopefully will be able to crack one after I have my follow up at the doctor this week! Happy New Year all!

Damn man - feel better! Glad you're on the road to recovery. Wondered where Frank the Tank had gone. Just figured you were making the most of that holiday "down" time with the missus.
