An all-encompassing/broadened thread for general news, as well as for the unbeknownst, unexplored, unmentioned…less talked about matters and whatnot –

Großnater Pils comes with minor (acceptable) traces of diacetyl, countering harshness, and tempered levels of creamed maize: couched DMS across light minerality. The approach stabs/justly battles homage thru a slightly spiced, herbal aroma with earthed gears (grass, pine, grained cedar-wood), and rudiment backing over soft fruit, cornflake rice crust, and sweet bready malts

A light, fairly clean, semi-cut execution for classical standards on pilsner malt and noble hops: A bready, Doughy, Orthodox Alertness

Maybe title should be changed to make it a little clearer what the thread’s about? Might inadvertently get someone posting about a pastry / NEIPA otherwise.

Maybe Mid-Atlantic Pureboi Elite Palate BDE Thread (2021).

And just to add my own update - planning on getting my genitals surgically removed this year. I’m hoping this will help channel additional blood flow to the palate, as well as allowing complete focus when quaffing something crispy or bottom-fermented.

Serious question - if you put this much work into writing this kind of review of the beer - why would you not actually enter it in as a review? I don't see that Reifenberg Brewing is even in the Beer Advocate database yet - so adding the brewery/beer with the review would be more beneficial to the BA community than a forum post.

Will get around to it, and looking forward to their Lentenbock

I assume that's simply a Doppelbock brewed for Lent?

I'm disappointed more US breweries don't embrace the Doppelbock style - it's such a great style for the winter. It's also the style I always reference when someone claims that "all lagers" are bland and boring.

And to drink while watching the 6N on a chilly Feb morning....

Not sure what I am more impressed by, your ability to make the 4th character in the first sentence come out of your keyboard or the exquisite, finesse filled way you described this beer.

I have a good friend (for now at least) who seems to be gravitating to beers between 1 and 5% abv lately, sometimes he tries to fake us out by posting pictures of BCBS on Untappd, but I think he just found those bottles in the dumpster and used them as a prop. I think he would be very interested in the offerings from this brewery, although he has a pretty suspect palate.

Looks like a cool place and would make a good road trip. I know another guy who got kicked out of Brooklyn and thankfully moved North and not East, he lives up that way somewhere in the woods. Once he gets finished bludgeoning his palate with Gowanus canned IPAs, he should be ready to move onto the finer beers of life. I am sure we can all use a little Grobnater in our lives.

I guess Voodoo's ears were burning. They just announced the release of a Foeder aged Doppelbock. Sounds interesting

I have several German bosses, and have come to learn that ß has an "s" sound despite looking like a "B". The pronunciation is probably closer to grosnater. You wouldn't want your exurban friend to make a fool of himself among the high council of crispy.

Guys everyone chill - I did German for two years at boarding school. @jrnyc is the be all / end all as far as potential missteps go.

Technically, it's more like an ss sound. ssofter than a single s. That's how it's usually written out when the ß isn't used.

I assumed his/her post was tongue-in-cheek, but yes, the eszett is a double S.

Bonesaw brewing close by currently has a bock, helles bock and doppelbock on tap. They make a lot of good well balanced beer IMO.

I had 4 years of German in high school but that was 20+ years ago, so mein Deutsch ist sehr schlecht.

I was playing along with several inside jokes from the OH thread, but I also was trying to legitimately inform about proper pronunciation. Apparently I'm not as linguistically inclined as some of our other BAs tho.
