My cans were best by 12/23/20... should not have declined so fast unless it had issues or was poorly cared for.

I emailed them because I’m a responsible beer consumer that wanted to let one of my favorite breweries know a shitty beer warehouse in Seabrook, NH was selling VERY old stock. Most businesses want to know shit like that. They were appreciative and so was I.

I’m working through a 6 pack of Vienna lager right now dated BB 1/20/21 and no off flavors. It’s a bit hoppier than I’d prefer in a Vienna (as was the case in VT’s marzen), but nothing alarming.

No issues here. Except as I was driving in on Saturday for a reservation there was a car that had just left and was in a ditch, blocking traffic in/out of the brewery. Luckily the people were unharmed and in typical Vermont fashion their car pulled out quickly, but they kept me and several cars behind me from our Dunkel. They must’ve been going pretty darn fast.

Right. Just surprised a “responsible beer consumer” doesn’t check can dates before purchasing.

Can't really check the can dates in the 12-packs. Been a victim of that myself.

I think their variety 12 pack bottles used to have the date on the outside. I’m not sure if it still does or not. Although I will say they were beers from them that I’ve had that were even a few months old still taste really good. I’m guessing somebody got a bad batch more so than an old batch based on the flavors that are describing.

It’s my fault the beer I bought was old even though in 2017 there were no dates on the box, only the cans? Should I have just left them bad Untappd reviews and let everyone else buy the same old beers? Trust me, good breweries want to know about this sort of thing.

You’re really this mad I got a free hat?

would be hard for them to figure out which brewer ratted on them.

I’ll be the douche that says it...

If you want consistency, buy Bud. (or Sierra Nevada or Jacks Abbey or...)

Ive had a few not so great Von Trapp beers, I can’t say infected, just not right. But the vast majority have been excellent and I will continue to purchase them.

Ha no I’m not mad. I was just intrigued. Sorry I questioned you. Didn’t realize it was 2017 bottles or in a box where you couldn’t tell. Those things weren’t clear tbh.

It’s just fucking boring. Who gives a shit. Guy inadvertently bought old beer. He reached out to brewery. He got a free hat. Maybe it wasn’t sanctioned beer nerd protocol, but everyone seemed to make out ok in the end....

Yes, yes we get it though. You always check dates and escalate to store/distributor first. Well done.

As you always but your head everywhere on here as why I had to click ‘show ignored content’ to unfortunately read what you had to say as well. I already realized what was said was wrong after seeing his response and apologized. Thanks though! I’ll go back to not paying attention.

I've been flimflamming breweries for years. I'm glad I got exposed, it's kind of a relief.
