Rumor is that very very few memberships opened up for new members

 

When's the draw, I want to know. I could have guessed that very few opened up, like maybe single digits, but when do they get filled.

 

No lottery - sounded like they were going down the waitlist from last year.

Also there was a third "very" in the comment about number of spots opening up.

 

The renewal period for existing members ended 12/30 so I’m guessing any people looking for openings from non renewals would have gotten some sort of info by now.

 

Only those that didn’t renew! Joe Bobbe mentioned they won’t be expanding

I figure it’s got to largely be people that moved away. No proxies / 1 month pickup window makes it rough if you can’t make the drive

Power move to just be like “I guess I don’t like stouts” and drop it though.

 

As a member who had to move to Atlanta for work, thats probably the real reason. I decided to keep mine in the hopes that I'll be able to make it up for 2/3 of the member releases this year, but I definitely considered dropping it. Really a shame that they don't allow proxies if we're being honest. The idea that they need members to physically show up to drive taproom sales doesn't make a ton of sense to me. As for trying to ensure loyal customers, I get the concept but shit happens and people cant always stay put. I still have my free hat from Warehouse for being the first customer to buy P3s first hop release, not exactly some guy who jumped on the bandwagon just for member stouts.

 

Moving away, financial hardship due to the pandemic, quitting/cutting back on alcohol as a lifestyle choice: all possible legit reasons. I assumed it would be less than 98 percent renewals

 

Absolutely agreed that those (and really any reason) is valid. 98% is honestly shockingly high.

 

Or you've got people like our friend @cmjohst who moved away but said "eh, let it ride, maybe I'll be up there once or twice"
