I look at other popular memberships such as DG and HF, their big releases (with exception of something like Ann) are made available to the public. When I was in the DG Keepers - there were plenty of times that I was frustrated to not be offered bottles as a member but understood the importance allowing the public the chance. Not sure why side project has so many big releases that are exclusive to LC.

There is no "should have". You are not entitled to top tier saisons. Or any other luxury goods.

No one is entitled to anything, including the members. I love when we get something and don't pitch a fit when we don't.

The batch size always come into play. Plus it's always easier to sell to your members ( who are your most loyal customers, already have proxies in place, tip regularly during all these sales, and know the proper curb side procedures) than dealing with a frenzied online sale that will still end up with people bitching about something.

I love reading all of the salty comments on IG whenever people miss out on a release

If a person gets worked up about missing a beer release and goes to Instagram/Twitter/whatever to complain, they need to evaluate their priorities in life.

It’s often the same people with the same gripes. Get over it. It’s a bottle of beer. Your life will go on, hopefully.

If I owned a brewery, I’d disable any comments-as SP has done previously with some releases.

People don't understand how small SP is. Their brewery is tiny compared to a lot of other ones in the area. They don't have the space to produce the volume of beer that everyone wants them to produce

I think a lot of people understand. I just think they dont care. Just channeling their inner Veruca Salt... "Don't care how, I want it now" :joy:

I see there is raspe and blended 2020 375s in the Various Missouri Fruited/Wild Ales category of the shop. Did the others sell out? Or are they releasing them again? I remember coming soon sometimes meant it had sold out. I know there’s some issue a with inventory and how they post stuff in the web store. I’d like to get some of the others, but F5 isn’t in the cards for me. I’m glad I could get a 375 of Blended either way.

I remember in years past when you had to camp out from midnight to get a shot at a premier SP mag. I also remember when a good percentage of their beers were not made available to the general public. I think the transparency of the internet sales has created a national sense of FOMO, whereas before it was just local FOMO. 2020 allowed a lot of out of town folks to get a shot at big beers, which is pretty cool. I don't see what there is to gain by complaining that every beer is not released to the public. Before 2020 a lot of these folks wouldn't have had many of the beers that they have access to now.

This x1000. I’m only four hours away, but the majority of my amazing experiences have come atop SP’s barstools. Being able to grab these online in 2020 has been truly unbelievable, albeit terrible for my budget. I’m very much appreciative for what I get, which doesn’t mean I’m not sad for what I miss. Positives vastly outweigh the negatives, I would guess for locals (lines suck) and out of towners.

Agreed, especially since SP pre Covid was all about “supporting the locals who support us” and keeping locals happy. Ever since they moved to online sales, they’ve been incredibly flexible with proxy sales, maybe bordering on overly so.

SP probably has the most flexible proxy system out of any brewery, where somebody just needs your name and order number to pick up. A lot of other breweries still don’t allow proxies at all, and if they do, you usually need to put the person picking up on your order when you order it, or assign them through everybody’s favorite app: Oznr.

This. The bottle shares in those lines were always fun as well. I don’t miss standing in the freezing cold for hours to get a bottle though lol

Honestly, I hope it goes back to in person sales out of the back garage doors. If you want a bottle, make sure you’re in line. No Apple Pay issues, not getting notifications, etc. Be in line, get your beer. But mainly I just want this so I don’t have to hear another person complain about bots being a reason they missed.
