For me I’d still have to walk down the T and take it to Harvard, then wait for the bus, then take the ride over on the bus (which if I recall isn’t exactly a short trip).

    Or call an Uber.

    Easy decision.

It’s not so bad of a walk from that stop to the stadium.

But then again my view of what a “walk” is is skewed. I walked from Medford to Lu Lu’s in Allston just to avoid taking an Uber or the bus during the pandemic. Anything’s walking distance if you have the time.

I'll always have a soft spot for Shay's after I wandered in the night after Jason Molina died and they played Magnolia Electric Company in its entirety.

Ok folks. We are officially moving to Saugus. Not exactly brewery central but plenty close to Idle Hands and Night Shift. Any other recommendations for the north side?

I think you meant North Shore, not north side. It’s also debatable whether Saugus is even North Shore.

Regardless, you’ll have easy access to all local breweries. Def come to Salem in September or October and visit Notch. It’ll be nice and chill then.

Austin Street Brewing just released Paseo down in MA, that would be one worth searching for!

I think someone mentioned Smutty Finestkind which is great when fresh.

Don't sleep on Winter Hill Tommy Point when it comes around. Classic C-Hop IPA.

Ipswich Route 101 is usually pretty fresh north of Boston.

As a fan of the style they aren't easy to come by around these parts...most breweries do their rendition which always seem to fall flat or walk the juicy line.

If you can get your hands on Port Brewing Wipeout when they send a fresh shipment...that is where its at. $9.99 typically a 4pk to boot.

I have to say Bone Up's sour barrel program is criminally underrated across the city. If you're going to Night Shift its worth going across the street to grab something. Their IPAs are also more of the NEIPA hybrid type.

Congratulations on choosing the correct, north of Boston, area.

And it's funny just how wrong "North side" sounds.

I should also add East by Northwest from Untold out of Scituate. Nice bitter piney with just a touch of juiciness

I mentioned Schilling/Resilience Serra earlier, that made it down to Boston. They just now are releasing what they call a "West Coast Pale Ale" called Whilom. Looks to be a tribute to SNPA. I assume it will be great because they do great things. And I also assume it will make its way down to Boston also.

Welcome to Boston, if you like lagers get to know Schilling out of New Hampshire also. Resilience is they're "ale" brewery but same place.

    Update after several weeks:

    - Wormtown Be Hoppy may be my fav IPA so far with Night Shift Single Hop Citra just behind
    - Newburyport Green Head was surprisingly solid, very old-school
    - Double Citra Four Seam from Idle Hands was a very good hazy IPA, but their BA imply stout and Pils were better
    - Notch and Jacks Abbey better than expected. Schill and Avon Trapp great as well but I had access to these in VA
    - Looking forward to visiting a few taprooms in the coming weeks (Idle Hands the only one so far)

    Thanks again everyone!

Notch and JA better than expected? What did you expect?

Some of the best lager brewed in the US can be found at those two spots.

I had heard good things but one of the local breweries in Alexandria crushed lagers (Port City) and I already had easy access to Schillng and Von Trapp from NE. Sorry to disappoint you but JA/Notch had a lot of work to do to be noticeably better than those (or many others I’ve had across the country). They aren’t hands-down better but they hold up to all of my favorites.

    That good enough for you?
