Drinking a great Imperial Stout from Omnipollo.

Starting a documentary called Nostalgia For The Light. Really looking forward to this one.

DDH Pliny the Elder, obtained via the mad proxy skills of @dcgunman. Vinnie said in a post that this was not "materially" different from Pliny for President, but that they tweaked some of the brewing techniques. The result is something a touch closer to regular Pliny, a little more balance, a little more pine. A very fine, even excellent beer, but begs the question (as did P4P): why not just can regular Pliny? I'm sure Vinnie has his reasons; I just really want to know what they are. At any rate, I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I'm pretty bummed about Lasorda dying, even as a Giants fan. I remember watching him manage as a kid and thinking he was such a great character; he was one of the last really in-the-umpire's-face managers, a tough old cuss.

 

A lovely change-up with this one.

Playoffs begins tomorrow...I’m sure there will be loads of butt-hurt fans come Monday.

Drekker Pineapple Upside Down Cake Slang Du Jour Sour à la Mode, 6.6% ABV. Pours dark and hazy orange, thick, with a four-finger white head that left sugary residue instead of lacing. Nose is strong cinnamon, brown sugar, pineapple, and vanilla. Taste follows, cinnamon prevailing, weak pineapple, plus granola. quite sweet, slightly tart. Excellent mouthfeel. Overall world class, though I had hoped for more pineapple. This is the best Drekker I've had. Truly a pastry sour.

This beer has some of my favorite add-junks; pineapple, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. The granola was a nice graham-like addition. I don't buy many pack of beers I haven't tried, but took a chance on this one, and damn glad I did.

 

Maybe my favorite beer of this past year. Have even considered going to the source, about 1.75 hours from me . . . they apparently still have cans in the taproom.

 

First time I saw Anchor Steam in a can. I gotta sixer of the good lord's elixir. It'll never taste the same from a can. Mind blown. Still a tasty beer.

 

After dinner beer tonight, is this tasty Belgian triple, which is a collaboration from my local brewery.

 

Which version of 120 Minutes is better?


120 Minute bottle has a bottle date (from 2017), which it less needs, @Thankin_Hank.

Funny, I’ve never though to put these beers together in comparison. Their basics are far apart - clean and straightforward versus thick, sweet, definitely heavier. But the finish... is vaguely similar.

Digging deeper, there’s actually a thread these beers share. It’s hidden beneath a thick, malty shroud in the 120, for sure, and I’d never have gotten it without having them together. I might also be crazy, but this was an interesting experience tonight.

 

@JayORear which do you prefer, Drift or Snow Angel? I hope to snag the latter this weekend

Snow Angel by a hair, picked up two 4-packs, so I'm happy. Like I mentioned above, it looks like the taproom still has Goggles, so I might have to make a road trip my other half won't be happy about.

Mrs Wheels is still working coordinating the vaccine for patients but it’s time for a beer.
