Last night's dinner of Poulet mafé , a Senegalese dish (chicken, peanut butter, sweet potatoes, potatoes, carrots, onions, etc - let me know if anyone wants the linked recipe). Had it with one of @vabeerguy 's favorite beverages.

Bottled 7/24/20. Poured at 52°. Good coffee nose/taste almost 6 months in the bottle. Chocolate background. Not as much coffee or flavors as the BA Espresso, but a fine tasting breakfast beer - Cheers!

 

Have a good Saturday. Going to be a pallbearer today, grandmas graveside, no service. Probably won't get any sleep today. Work at 11PM, but next 2 days off. I got some free dinner last night with my usual dark roast Columbian and vanilla cream. They were going to throw them away. I applied for 2 Hydraulics systems engineer positions in Cleveland this morning. Boeing. Guess I will have a family dinner for once, figure my dad will come pick me up. I gotta find some clothes.


Amazing as usual. Was happy to find a 2017 vintage creeping in the closet.

Back to back Narwhal with @VABA ! For me, this was my first pour, with my full review posted in the New Beer Weekend thread. Hope all of you can join us there sometime this weekend, and perhaps treat yourself to a new beer this weekend.

1993 is the year featured on WXRT's Saturday Morning Flashback. These two favorites were featured a few minutes ago. Really enjoying the beer and tunes this morning.

 

Happy Saturday, BAs! Rolling the dice on another $8 EQ ipa can. If these were $5 I’d have no problem with their inconsistent quality. I do love Simcoe, and it’s a 3 week old can, so hoping this one hits.

Springdale's Ginger & Juice. Labeled as a tart ale with grapefruit and ginger. A nice way to start the day. Nice and refreshing, but sadly lacking in grapefruit and ginger.

Added by Act 25. No ABV on the fat 25.4 oz can. Amazing local produce. My first from brewer.
a) fervent, rising, white head over pale, yellow, haze body, splashing lasting and lacing. 4.25
s) best part, barnyard, yeast, hay, lemon, grain, biscuit, honey, fresh dough.
t) Follows smell, even bigger.
f) nice honey feel along with fresh dough, bread bakery.
o) Fine local example, exactly why to drink fresh, local, raw beer.

4th Review. Jai Low wins the prize for best session IPA ever, better even than Carton Boat.
a) First of all the color, which is orange carbonated clear, spinning lace. Looks like a bigger IPA.
s) Orange, citrus marmalade spread over crusty peasant bread (Like it's big brother)
t) Follows aroma without pulling power.
f) Crisp, clean, appetizing, less filling. Crushable.
o) This could become my every day IPA and maybe yours.

My Hometown brewer. I give this beer a 4 for being a flavorful, true session APA with plenty of bite, bitter, and complexity. If I had to drink beer all day long, this would be for me. BRONX Slow roll tops it, Boat is silver in session IPAs.
A: Pours a very hazy light blonde with a trace of visible carbonation. It pours into a tulip with a finger of head and leaves lots of dotty lacing.
S: Plentiful aromas of grapefruit, herbal hops and pine resin, stronger as the beer warms. Pleasantly hoppy.
T: The taste follows the smell but the pine resin kicks in stronger and longer. More complexity and a good finish of bitterness. A nice sweet malt underlayer, but hops win the show.
F: It is light-bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. A bit thin.
O: Extremely flavorful. This is the hop heads session beer, beats Bitter American which is a close 2nd, but entirely different character.

This beer is too sweet.

 

Van Steenberge uses their stock belgian ale yeast, that's what gives it that slightly "off" taste. Allagash's Black ("Belgian style") stout is the same way.

 

This may be the best beer that I have ever experienced!
