Tonight's aperitif is a new beer for me. Lots of oatmeal like particulate in the bottom of the glass.

But damn it has that strange funky rotting veg smell that I discovered with Great Divide Tidal that I reviewed. What is that nose note? Anyone know? Can says it is double dry hopped with Hallertau Blanc and Huell Melon. Tastes is good, but nose is a bit much.

Ok, here's speaking my mind . . . I think OH is basically the Cold Stone Creamery of breweries. Throw as many high-calorie toppings (or lactose/oats/hype) at any ice cream (or beer) as you can, and you're gonna get a lot of lowest common denominator fans. That said, OG Mylar Bags and Vapor Ringz are beers I'd still stand in line for.

 

Light dinner with an old school PA. All y'alls "hearty" looking food is killing me. I said "we could get pizza" and she said "you didn't run today".........lord give me the patience to pick my battles.....

 

I am drinking Hopsmack from Toppling Goliath.

Always a big fan of Very Gggreennn. I typically prefer a bitter west coast ipa but I really love this one.

 

I just arrived at US Naval Training Center at Great Lakes Recruit Training Command in November where I proceeded to freeze my ass off. The AM radio blaring "You're So Vain", Little Stevie Wonder's "Superstitious", and Traffic's "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys". "Anchors Aweigh"

 

Welcome to the Hoppin Frog club. That beer’s smaller brothers are just as good IMHO: Toris and Boris. Great brewery really struggling now so it’s good to see them innovating.

 

10 pages in already? Ok then. Kicking off the night with this special bottle. Crooked Stave Nightmare On Brett. It’s a dark sour ale aged in Leopold Brothers Whiskey Barrels and this variant has Montmorency cherries added. This is packed with tart cherries and brettanomyces, but the whiskey really smooths it out and amplifies the ABV, which is well hidden.

 

Beer schism underway hehe. In all seriousness, I obviously agree. I've long since passed the point of blindly following the herd, I drink what tastes good to me as we all should and enjoy the ride. I loved your objective take on DDH Pliny yesterday

 

Heard enough about this one that when I had the chance to buy it, I had to do so. Lives up to the hype.



Spinning Blue Gene again. He passed away a few weeks ago. Massively underrated in the experimental rock space.
