I like my first beer usually on an empty stomach because when I get home from work I’m still waiting on dinner. But I’ve had this backfire big time twice when said beer was a BCBS and I had two, neither ended well and I got myself smoked pretty good. I have vertigo problems so I have to be a bit more careful with how much I drink, I’ve never even been a huge pounder of beer.

2 is generally my limit: after that I can't taste it very well anyway and wake up with a headache.

Also. I used to very much enjoy drinking 12 beers. Going to bed. Getting up zero issues and going to work. Then it turned in to waking up still a little drunk and having to drink a beer to get level before work. I walked to work but still. I had to take almost a year off.

I do enjoy a little buzz I do prefer marijuana now. Once I feel myself getting drunk I stop because I dislike feeling sick or nauseous

My "P-Zone" varies. Indoors it is a bathroom. Outdoors - just about anywhere in the back yard.

For three years it has been mainly one at a time. And that is NA. Maybe not so buzzy?

Somehow I had my fair share and that's it. At least I know I drink for the taste . Or hydration?. Or ticking, or what?

I can get feeling good with a couple of nice beers, 8 - 10% range.
I'm at the point in my life that while I like that slight buzz (I call it getting fluffy) but I don't like getting drunk. The sloshing, the spins, and certainly the hangover I can definitely do without.
So I limit myself to that level. It's rare I go past that 2 a day anymore, except special occasions.
(This is a day that ends in 'Y' is no longer a special occasion in my book...)
I suppose a good thing that I keg my homebrew is that I can pour a quarter or half a glass without feeling I'm wasting it. Obviously that does backfire every so often - several halves do add up, but again, not often, and if I feel that I'm getting past that fluffy bit, I stop and drink water for a while.

It's all about the situation. Some days I swear its while the first aip is in my mouth. Other times its somewhere in hour 4-8 of a property session

Due to diabetes I seldom have more than one in an evening. I'm not sure I remember what buzzed feels like. :flushed::flushed:

Depending on alcohol content 4-6 beers will get me to that zone...a bit quicker if I hit the vaporizer while imbibing
Any more than that, risk 'unwanted effects'.

I have checked with my girlfriend, and she says her personal favourite buzz is the Vroom Vroom 9000 Turbo D.

As for her P-Zone....well that's a different story.

In all seriousness, for me, it's pretty much one beer. I don't drink much these days. I'm usually satisfied after a pint between 5 and 8% ABV. I can handle a 750ml of 7% over a couple hours, and I've done 750ml of 12% + over about a day, but I generally avoid the buzz unless it's after 6pm. I had my issues when I was far too young, and while alcohol wasn't really my vice of choice, I did have a year-long phase where I just overdid it. Lost a lot of friends and girlfriends back then, and stunted the prime of my youth.

Some may take issue with this remark, but it's true - the effects of alcohol have very little appeal to me anymore. I've already lost about 5 years of my life that I'll never get back, and I've seen where dependence can lead to. I'm one of the lucky ones who got their shit together, and can comfortably explore alcohol as a hobby without it opening any old wounds or putting me at risk - and I'm even luckier to be able to say that they are old wounds - a single dark chapter of life so far in the rearview mirror, it's but a distant memory.

In a social setting, two pints of beer can be fun. Hard to remember what a social setting even feels like anymore. Usually, I'm at home, and I'll pick a nice beer to sit down with. In the summer, I may stagger two pints throughout the day, or a pint and a larger bottle. After that, I get sluggish and unmotivated, and tend to avoid that.

If I'm performing, I'll indulge a little, because after al these years, I still have stage fright, and a couple of beers helps me overcome that. Maybe a splash of whiskey. Maybe a couple. If it's a string of shows, I'll usually relax with a beer at the end of the night.

Occasionally, if I'm drinking with someone, it's fun to get a little tipsy, or with a close friend, a little more tipsy, but these days, it's a rare occasion. I get plenty of joy out of pulling a nice bottle from the cellar rack, popping it open, and just being a beer geek. The looseness can be nice if I have the time, but I'm just not after it anymore. I'll embrace it when it comes along, and enjoy it with company, but I'd much rather shove my fat nose in the glass and wax poetic about the "depth and complexity" and sound like a dorky ass than a rambling drunk ass.

I respect anyone who drinks beer however they prefer to drink it, and I don't judge people for their choices. Beer can be a healthy pastime if you're not overdoing it, and everyone will get something different out of it. For me, the buzz just happens to be my signal to wrap it up for the night, but I'll enjoy it when I can.

This is my answer as well.

Another way for me to answer this is: "Way less than it used to be."

It’s a tough thing, that “P-Zone,” because once I’m there I usually head straight to the oopsie zone

After years of dedicated physical conditioning, I find that I am able to session DIPA’s pretty much all day long without any obvious impairment.

Sadly, with covid, mammosilenus is now working from home and my unsupervised time has largely gone away. I am occasionally subjected to ‘expectations’ and ‘judgement’ and, on one particularly galling occasion, there was a counting of cans and bottles in the recycling bin.

Also, I live in perpetual dread of the day when I finally find out what is the largest size of blue jeans Walmart sells.

Honestly as someone previously said, I love the feeling when you first realize the alcohol hit your brain.
A year ago 1-2 would equal a buzz. Now 3-4. Not bragging by any means.
Another X-Factor I haven’t figured out is type of beer. There are some scientifically obvious facts... higher abv means more inebriated, and you will get a faster buzz on an empty stomach.
The X factor I can’t figure out is I swear hops give me a buzz more than other beer.
If I drink a 15% stout I often feel a little buzzed but also balanced by a nauseating fullness. Drank a couple nice 5% lagers tonight and just got a headache.
Those IPA’s though.... can’t explain it.
