Would be a hard pass at that price for me. Looks like $15 for a sixer at NoCal Total Wine locations.

a $20 sixer of this (imperial strength) beer would be roughly equal to a $17.50 four pack that so many of us willingly pay these days for a non-imperial strength hazy IPA.

Stone IRS would also be akin to a dodo bird, at least around me. Don't know about your area but all the imperial stouts near me are over burdened by adjuncts and taste like diabetes. A straight up take like Stone's is sorely missed and fairly rare around me. God do I want that beer back.

Even with the comparison in price, Stone is a larger company and has sold this beer for cheaper in the past. I think this will be a failed experiment of re-releasing a sought after retired beer selling it at that price. If it were in the $12.99-$15 range across the country, I bet it would have much higher sales.

Binny's here has it priced at $14.99. Given this, it's quite possible the $20 price quoted above for NYC is not representative of other areas of the country.

I won't disagree that selling it for less would probably help it sell more, but I think a one-time release makes price less of a factor. More people will pay more for a one-time nostalgia purchase. Now if Stone continues to brew it more, it's the repeat purchases that I imagine would suffer because of price.

I don’t think the price of a beer in NYC is a good gauge for what it will be nationally. Just saying...maybe I’m wrong but everything costs more there.

Didn’t see your post at @Jaycase but I’ll say the same thing

I don't know about you all, but I can go to a dozen breweries in my area and pay $15-18 for a solid but not superb NEIPA. I'll happily pay the same for a top-notch version of a style I can't get anywhere.

This would indeed be a perfect discussion for New Beer Weekend. Even if you have had these beers before this would be a new drinking experience.

    Cheers!

    B. United's online store sells Schlenkerla for $5 a can or bottle. In the store they are $6-$8 depending on the style.

Not sure you can put it on Stone the NYC market is far more expensive. Especially if it’s $14.99 elsewhere.

Damn, I'd stock up at that price. What part of the state is that?

Well I will definitely have to scope that out next time I passed through! I've never seen it less than $6/bottle or can

Just ordered a couple four-packs tonight. I'm pretty excited!

Had a crowler of SSR over the weekend and it was phenomenal. I think we'll be seeing it in stores nationwide within the next few weeks.
