Good day all, starting in the wee hours of the morning with Achel Brune, one of the authentic Trappist from Belgium. Great one.

Second beer will be from a very local brewery I very recently got into: Into the Malt, and an American Pale Ale they have named “Nature” with Amarillo hops. Good.

    Good morning BA
Today is day 13 of dry January and I just finished a shift of four overnights. Usually this would call for a high proof celebration, but today I'm just dusting off a seldom used stein and drinking a fair NA beer.

Cheers all and enjoy your Wednesday!

    Conshohocken Brewing
    Oats Magoats
    Oatmeal Stout. 5.7% abv
    Conshohocken, PA

Deep brown. Tan head. Smells of cherry pit, mud, coffee grounds, charred malts. Flavors of cherry, stone, dirt, black coffee. Moderate acidity. Dark fruits. The feel is acidic, thin side of medium. Overall a pretty ok oatmeal stout I only drank a little less than half. Not that a beer NEEDS to be remarkable but this one is unremarkable and has a higher than average dark fruit/ berry acidity to it than I prefer in the style. A bummer for me given that this brewery does English styles so well. If you enjoy red berry in stouts then you’d enjoy this.

Finishing up the Lake Effect Fernet BA Imperial Milk Stout bomber from yesterday. 14 oz today, the wine stopper worked over 24 hours.

I know it’s random but I quite like your bottle collection in the background, had some of them too.

I used to have a beer bottle collection, and an impressive one at that (~200 bottles or cans) but I eventually got rid of them. It takes space and people/guest/visitors may have a wrong (or right duh...) impression of me.

Thank you! Those are among my "greatest hits" bottles in my possession, ordered by brewery from West to East. I don't have additional bottles or cans beyond the ones presented.

While I do enjoying having a beer or two each day at home during the past year, and the geographical and beer style diversity of brewers and regions available in Chicago, I hope to be able to resume traveling domestically this Spring or Summer, and one day visit Europe and New Zealand/Australia within the next few years.

Alvarado Street back with another Motor Oil release. This is really good, being more like a Imperial Stout and not a Pastry Stout. Not sweet, but manages to highlight Maple and the Pecan flavors.

Have a good Wednesday. More work for a quick night and got off at 6AM. I slept all afternoon from 3-work at 10PM. I had a good meal at work after 36 hours of no food hahaha. It was great. I put BBQ on the cold cuts. Did a few more engineering applications this morning. Seems like more recent ones are actually responding back with all denials, better than nothing I suppose.

Loved these pork rinds too. Great pepper complexity and restrained heat. I'll get another bag. Underrated snack imo.

So I was thinking about opening a beer for 4 hours now, I don't have the same obsession with alcohol as I once did for 6 years from 2014-2020.

Redd's Sour apple review. Great stuff. Aromas and flavors of big juicy green apples, ripe fruit peel, citrus, grain, white sugar syrup, caramel and herbal/grassy earthiness. Touch of alcohol booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light herbal/grassy bitterness and alcohol spiciness on the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Medium-plus carbonation and body; with a very smooth and lightly creamy/syrupy/sticky mouthfeel. Fairly refreshing for the ABV. Mild increasing warmth of 8% after the finish. Yes I really like these for what they are. 4.05

    Cheers

I listened to Spotify Obscura artist radio all night. With a Beyond Creation album mixed in. I found this one today. Amazing prog power metal. It has Hannes Grossmann on drums, Christian Munzner and Phil Tougas on guitars. Mike LePond on bass, who has been with Symphony X for 22 years. Had no idea who he was at first, but now I know.
