Anyone had the latest batches of either Special Sauce or Check 1,2?

 

I had them both. Went to grab more Special Sauce because I really enjoyed this batch when I had a couple cans last weekend and grabbed a Check 1,2 since I was there and usually really like that one. As good as this batch of Sauce is, I didn’t think the Check was one of the better batches.

Newest Five Finger Hop Punch is live. I picked it up since it’s Nelson. I’ll report back if I can try some drafts when I go to pick up that and Super Sauce. I’m curious about their In a Blender V3 and the Took an L fruited beer which has some nice Untappd comments.

 

Please do, eager to hear your thoughts on everything you try.

I was hoping Super Sauce was going to show up at BC Geneva but it seems like they are getting less and less. I saw it along with some other Mikerphone brews was delivered to GE. Kinda worried about that state of that store, the financial post they made last week shows its struggling quite a bit.

No Bean Spirit Double Maple?!

 

Looks like BA Super ISLBS is coming soon-ish.

 

Some thoughts on the current releases:

-Super Sauce is solid even if it’s not mind blowing to me like it was when the brewery opened

-In a Blender v3 is pretty good. Banana and peaches standing out with strawberry just supporting. The $21 price is rough though I like that it’s lower ABV compared to the Phase Three ones that keep going up in alcohol (though I enjoy the flavors of those more)

-I would recommend 5 Finger Hop Punch Nelson. There’s a little hop burn which isn’t a surprised given the quintuple dry hopping. But the Nelson character was on point to me.

-I did try a taster of Canadian Double Maple ISLBS. It’s actually not a maple bomb like the OG Double Maple. More, you can see the difference the source of the maple makes. I look forward to trying a can after this post haha.

 

They actually dropped at BC Geneva today, grabbed two cans of 5 finger. Excited to give it a go.

Passed on Mikerphone Check. Tavern Cut and Time Enough at Last caught my attention.

I figured as much. Its disappointing man. We have had a batch or two of Check that I'd personally put with some of the best hazys out of Chicago. I'd buy it every damn time if their runs were consistent.

BA Super Bean Spirit and a Port BA Oat wine just went live.

$34 plus tax for BA Super- I think that’s the highest one at Mikerphone yet.

“Regular” Super ISLBS is their 16th highest rated beer out of 516 beers. If we consider the success of their recent barrel-aged beers... this is going to be the best beer ever!!!!!

With tax and a $2 tip with two bottles, I just spent $77.46. That's only $38.73 per bottle...

Trying to figure out if I'm just a coffee beer *****, or I'm just happy to be out of the house to go grab the bottles?!?

I think it's mostly I'll be heading back from Revolution and it's not too far out of the way.
And I'm a coffee beer *****...

 

I caved and took the gamble on BA Super ISLBS. I like regular ISLBS and have enjoyed some of their other BA stuff (Vanillanoize) so hopefully this is a safe buy and isn't straight alcoholic maple syrup like I read the Maplewood collab apparently was. The reviews made me glad I passed on that one.

 

I thought Super ISLBS was one of the best variants they made, so I'm assuming this one will be good. I decided to make a More delivery order for Saturday instead though. I'm thinking $100 for a BA More stout, a couple of 4-packs, and maybe a YOpener delivered to my front door is a better deal than $80 for two bottles of beer I have to pick up myself with no curbside options.

I'll probably try to trade for one of the reviews are good.

 

The BA Super sold out very quickly. So why not keep pushing the pricing envelope. I think Mikerphone is on the Toppling Goliath model. Just keep raising prices until you reach what the market will bear. Knock it all you want, but it's a proven model.
