I may have missed discussion on this topic, but how has business been for Rev through the pandemic?

Seems like everyone supports them now even more than ever after all these years, at least the beer geek crowd, but it's almost exclusively in regards to the admittedly incredible Deep Woods series. Still, I imagine Deep Woods, not unlike most breweries, isn't the primary stream of revenue.

 

I don't remember any discussions on this topic beyond asking folks to tip their people when we do pickups. From what I've seen in grocery stores and liquor stores, their products are moving - Fistmas disappeared quickly and Coffee Eugene did not last long at any store I've seen.
I hope they can get the brewpub up and running again in March to bring those people back to work - I'm happy to spend some $$ there (even if it's just for takeout)!!!!

 

I would imagine they are doing well based off accessibility and availability. In Illinois they are probably in every store Budweiser is in. The beauty of Deep Woods is you can find the non brewery only release fairly easily compared to their local barrel aged competitors who either have ticketed/lotto type releases or are lined up for in scarce quantities.

 

Anyone have good French press successes with Straight Jacket?

 

Never felt the need to try TBH.

 

I've never, but I think starting with coffee is always the way to go.

I’ve never thought to French press Straight Jacket either, but damn it @HouseofWortship, I think you’re onto something here. Once Dry January is done, I may have to take a shot at it.

 

Yeah, I was thinking about it a couple of weeks ago also. I've been meaning to try a Bananas Foster French press (with a stout), but I thought that could be pretty good with a Barleywine. I thought coconut or maybe coffee/coconut would be pretty good too.

 

I didn’t have much luck with trying various fruits in it as the barleywines big bold flavors aren’t complimentary to a lot of flavors. If you go fruit I think it needs to be something very acidic or tart as that is one flavor not typically found in barlewyines unless you get something like a hoppy Behemoth. I will say the most surprising discovery was that squeezing a lemon wedge into it actually made it a bit more interesting for my taste.
