Hey all. New year, new thread.

As you may not know, I live in Colorado Springs. I frequently proxy pick-up for my friends who live in COS or beyond. I estimate last year I did about 20-30 proxy pickups.

Anyway, I tell you that to tell you this. I screwed up. I got home, started dropping off bottles, and realized I was one short. This morning I called Weldwerks and explained: I picked up for 4 people, and I'm missing one bottle. They patiently looked up all 4 orders, and we figured out that one of the tickets was not scanned. This was my fault, I thought that person ordered one bottle but it was two. So it's likely MY FAULT that I didn't get all my bottles- I also didn't double-check and count bottles vs. tickets. (I don't usually print everything out, saves paper).

The person I spoke with apologized (for my mistake), and immediately offered ways in which Weldwerks could accommodate me. This was A+ customer service, and it's the kind of stuff that sets companies apart. I believe WW really sets the bar for how they treat customers- some breweries in Colorado could take a few lessons from them. Good job @Tarheel4985 on training and retaining quality employees.

As a tiny thank you, I did spend some time answering the survey this year - doing some untapped research to figure out my favorite WW beers from last year.

I’m ready to open a Kansas City branch. Too many good beers and I’m too far away (especially during pandemic times). Love how they’re always pushing the envelope and trying to develop new beers and new concepts.

I had a similar situation arise w/ WW. And ill tell you, they took care of the issue instantly. I have no problem dropping thousands of dollars on their beer knowing they are great people.

    Cheers!

Out of curiosity, has there been any recent updates on when the CS location is opening?

I don't believe so, but maybe @Tarheel4985 may have an update.

I believe - I could be wrong - they are currently tied up in red tape with the city of Colorado Springs. It may have something to do with them rennovating an older building? I am super excited for the buildout, it's going to have an amazing view and great location.

It will be a destination taproom for sure.

Also, I am surely not "the king" but I have tried at least 324 different beers from Weldwerks, which is almost 10% of my total checkins.

I feel so inadequate with 89 WW beers!

Just realized I’m kinda talking out of both sides of my mouth here; I obsessively track every single mile of trail that I cover on my MTB.

It’s effectively the same thing lol
    Sorry, @Dan_K

I like to take tasting notes on what I’m drinking, because it would be difficult to remember everything I’ve had sans reference guide. It has nothing to do with “collecting” beers or those pointless badges on Untappd.

I believe there is a huge difference between tasting beer (wine, spirits, etc) and drinking beer. If one cares enough to taste, then one might also care enough to take notes. Or not. It’s what works for me though.

Beer is a recreation for me. Even when I brew I don’t take notes. I don’t want something I enjoy to become a job. I’ve reviewed some beers, but more to my enjoyment and less to keep track of what I have had. I’m not trying to be a dick, but when someone says they have had x unique beers from z brewery it ABSOLUTELY sounds like a competition. Just one guys opinion. It’s just beer and everyone engages in different ways. Cheers.

I get it. These are just words online, so hard to transcribe. For me, thinking about what I’m drinking/experiencing doesn’t take away the joy of drinking beer, it adds to it. Cheers.

I guess it's like the Pokemon effect. But I do buy cans and 4-packs of a lot of them, and there are plenty of repeats (which I don't always log). If you don't like it, that's fine, I completely understand. I'm also more likely to "log" beers when I am there by myself doing a pickup (instead of having someone to talk to).

We faced a lot of delays over the last 18+ months, some related and some unrelated to COVID. We're still moving forward and construction will be starting in earnest very soon but given the delays and our inaccuracy in the past, we aren't even venturing a guess as to when we'll open. So the best answer I have is we'll be open sometime in the future...

I went and picked up (10) orders last weekend. It was thankfully very un-busy when I was there. The employees were super cool and patient and took the time to ensure everything was picked up before I left.

Whew. I bought a 4-pack of the German Chocolate Cake. I occasionally like a "dumb but fun" pastry stout. I don't know if we're going to even be able to finish this thing. Had to pour out half of the first can. Tried cutting another one 50/50 with Kalamazoo Stout to tone things down. Still couldn't make it through. Similarly wasn't feeling the Chocolate Pretzel stout from a couple months ago. I liked some of the earlier dessert beers (Evil Pastry Stout Factory and such), but these are just too much. Like Hershey's syrup mixed with those Italian flavored syrups at coffee shops. I know some people totally dig that aspect, but I don't know if I've ever had anything this syrupy before.

Came over to this thread to see what the group’s opinion of Extra Extra Juicy Bits is. It just dropped in New York. Reviews sound great.

I think it's really good even if hazy DIPA's aren't really my personal preference. In general, I think all of the "Bits" variants are really good. Locally, I know of at least a few people that think Extra Extra = the best of them.

Extra extra is not my preferred of the bits. I enjoy most of the one off hop variants I have had, specifically the Citra one being my personal fave.

They have teased "Extra Extra Extra" Juicy Bits coming up fwiw...not sure how widespread that will get distributed. Sounds like it might only be released in a "special 6th Anniversary six-pack."
