No 2021 PW’s thread yet? Tsk, tsk.

I blame the brewery for not putting out any releases in 2020 that got anyone excited.

    And well...

Hey, I'm a fan of NvU Cryo (enjoyed how resinous it was when I had it last time) so looking forward to this. Also, just noticed a new Drive Thru Meatballs IPA (disclaimer - I'm a fan of Idaho 7 hops) which also looks in my IPA wheelhouse. Guess I should have started the thread then.

Also, Pothole City! Which collects dust on shelves allowing me to grab a can with every Binny’s trip I make.

I liked NvU Vs Cryo too. Haven't bought the most recent batch. Saw the ID one and passed for Hopslam instead.

This one pains me though. Opened a Winter 2018 (Heaven Hill) The Abduction last weekend with some friends. Fridge stored. Something was not right with it. None of us could drink it. It tasted heavily oxidized and had something else off with it too that we couldn't put our finger on. Crying shame because the last bottle I opened back in April 2020 was absolutely glorious.

Once some bottles started turning, I drank the rest of my BA Pipeworks beers in short order, even if they weren't one of the "bad" batches. I was afraid of this happening!

    My condolences.

@croush - here is your chance to find redemption.

this is an excellent, nuanced, surprising, and fun beer.

Soooooo it's been a "few weeks" since they announced BA Sundae Sauce would drop, anyone heard any news on it?

Uh oh. I have a bottle of Rohrwerker BBA Barleywine [12% abv - 22-oz bottle] {the collaboration with Local Option} stashed in the refrigerator. I bought it from the Pipeworks store back in February 2020. You can deduce why it was purchased.:beers:
Should I open it and consume it now?

I would! I haven't heard a peep about that one "turning" at all, but better safe than sorry at this point.

Your mileage may vary, but I've probably had about eight bombers of Rohrwerker over the years and only one tasted notably different. That one was moderately buttery, likely diacetyl, in a degree that some folks might still enjoy. I don't recall which batch that bottle was from. In any case, diacetyl is different from the issues they had with BA Murderous that led to this pause in BA releases.

Don’t forget it wasn’t just BA Murderous. BA Coconut Jones Dog and BA Sundae Jones Dog were notable infections and the pattern of the infections so close in time alerted them to the fact that at a certain point their quality control on the barrel program had failed, it was all infected and they dumped it to start from scratch.

I still have hundreds of dollars of store credit from those releases’ recall that I have not cashed in, waiting for the day it can be used on another BA release. Maybe this year...

I had just a reg BA Jones Dog that was infected. Was totally bummed. I’ve had probably 5 bottles over the years and they were all stellar except that one. I’ve had 2 BA Hyper Dogs that were outstanding also.

They're releasing an imperial version of Blood of the Unicorn. Pretty cool.

When downstairs in the beer cellar, I moved a case of bottled beers off one stack and uncovered a crate which has three more Pipeworks bombers :open_mouth:, also bought in February 2020. I did not bring any of them up this time; but on the next foray, at least one of them shall. I shall also bring up another bottle of the 2019 Unibroue Spiced Winter Ale (from Trader Joe's). The Maguires (Guinness knock-off from Aldi) bottles are being held back until March.
