Took an after work drive up to Kent to my fav beer store again - damn, that place is dangerous, dropped over $80 there....esp. since I have 10 days left in "dry January" - oh well, it's only money, right? My rewards for this month, include some Lag Willetized stout, the new Weihenstephaner Helles in pint cans, some new to me Roak French Toast Oatmeal Stout, some Pabst PBR Extra (higher abv than regular PBR), some SNBC Big Little Thing DIPA, Founder KBS Mac Fudge, Reissdorf Kolsch, Birdfish Boats & Gose ( to name a few! - some of these I picked up last week)...February is looking pretty sweet!

Yet another excellent German NA brew

I did not know you had Covid. For me it would be a death sentence but for young guys like you it is usually just a temporary inconvenience. Glad to hear you are doing ok.

Appreciate you man, unfortunately the media doesn’t like to recognize things have to happen after the medical field’s efforts have failed or been exhausted...

    Yet here I am.

It was anything but an inconvenience. I will not go into detail, but only tell you that I had a few conversations with God. I am not even joking for a second.

Every year, I buy Hopslam and Nugget Nectar, wondering if they'll reach their glory days heights. This year, Hopslam comes much closer than NN, with super-bright hops and prominent honey. Glad I bought a sixer.

Heading Into a 2019 Nic Cage film called Color Out Of Space. Apparently very strange, but isn’t that why you watch Nic Cage films? Drinking a great Imperial Stout from Omnipollo. Love these guys. First song is Salome Bey. American born but Canadian at the end. Sadly, I think forgotten. What a voice. Second song, Mike Scott outside The Waterboys. Cheers. [IMG]

I am hoping I can get the vaccine soon. I miss going to restaurants, bars, and breweries let alone traveling.

I do not know a lot of folks who had Covid. The dad of one of my daughters bridesmaids died from it. Her friend from college was really sick for six weeks but I think fully recovered. A neighbor grown daughter got it but given she is in her early thirties she did ok.

My oldest sister said the whole thing is a hoax. I am not sure what to think.

I’ve never had heartburn. Feel sorry for the acid reflux crowd as it sounds awful.

Please be advised, Covid-19 is NOT A HOAX. Stop wearing your mask and go about your routine business and you'll find out soon enough.

Anything peppermint sets mine off like a flame thrower. I used to love thin mint Girl Scout cookies, not so much lately.

    Tonight's Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) Summit's Dakota Soul: A delicious Czech-style Pilsner made with North Dakota Barley with excellent salty, buttery, bready, grassy, and citrus notes. Well-balanced and near perfection for a Czech lager.
    2) Josephbrau Pilsner, another Czech-style Pilsner from Trader Joes. Nice bready notes, but haze a distinct Belgian spice sweetness characteristic of some of TJ's cheaper beers.

    3) Schell's Firebrick Vienna Lager: A Mexican-style Vienna lager with rather strong caramel flavors. Toasty and sweet.
    4) Bahaus' Brewery's Zenata: Another Mexican-style Vienna lager with smooth and toasty brown bread, crust, earthy caramel flavors. Earthy, but light.

    4) Torn Label Alpha Pale Ale, from KCMO: A juicy pale ale with fantastic orange, grapefruit, and apricot flavors. Creamy and juicy.
    5) Sierra Nevada Pale Ale: A quintessential, classic west-coast pale ale with the earthy orange and caramel flavors I don't need to describe here.

    Winner:
Summit Dakota Soul: This Czech-style Pilsner made with North Dakota Barley has excellent and balanced flavors of English malts with citrus and flowery hops. I haven't found an American Czech-style pilsner better than this.

Do you agree with the winner? Have you tried Dakota Soul and if so, did you think it lived up to my description?
