Keep em Deep Woods branded, not specific to a single beer.

Agreed unless doing something coffee mug-adjacent for Cafe Deth. Maybe an all glass coffee mug?

Agreed. Keep any glassware generic to Deep Wood. And maybe add something on it like "Two beers released in a Deep Wood, And sorry I could not drink both". Hey, it's public domain and these are ~14% beers after all, right?

@VinHalen54 I saw elsewhere on here that you're cracking the new Deep Woods cans tonight...care to share your first impressions?

I did both! AB was more subtle with the apple brandy than I expected. It really did retain the Ryeway base well. Very full mouthfeel for the style. On and On got better by the sip. Without the label, I wouldn’t have assumed it was a porter. Think of it more in the Ryeway/barleywine family of the Deep Woods Series. It grew on me more and more. I enjoyed both!

Polishing off my first can of AB Ryeway and its fantastic. I was worried at first because its got lots of sweet apple Brandy on the nose and it seemed like it was goin to be really sweet, but its nicely balanced. like @Nbrock24 said, the ryeway base beer comes through really nicely in this. As it warmed up it really opened up and was delicious - brown sugar, apple brandy, spicy rye, toffee, just all around delicious.

I shouldn’t be surprised at this point but the pick up process is so smooth for these Deepwoods releases. Really hope the days of lining up are gone!

Another super smooth and fast Rev drive thru pickup. Thanks to whoever previously posted about handing a list of proxy names and orders. They were very appreciatively of the list to make things easier. Can't wait to open an AB Ryeway tonight!!

An interview with Guy Fawkes, conducted by Guy Fawkes. Part 3 in a soul-crushing, liver-destroying series.

Q: Hey, I know how excited you were about Apple Brandy Ryeway and On & On Part 1. Which one did you crack tonight?
    A: Neither, bruh.

Q: Oh. Did you go with a kolsch or something lighter to set the stage?
A: (visibly drunk and visibly confused) What about the Colts?

Q: (visibly disappointed) OK, what are you drinking?
A: Double Barrel Destroyed By The Empire. It's been in barrels for like 13 years or something.

Q: (rolls eyes) Well, at least it's not a work night.
A: (gazes listlessly for a few minutes)

Q: Hey, let's focus. How does it taste?
A: (after a moment, snapping back to reality) These extended-aging projects from Revolution have ranged from good to great, but this one is incredible. Possibly the best yet. It's elegant; there are notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, caramel, oak and bourbon. When chilled, the sweeter aspects shine. Once it's warm, it becomes an WOOD BOMB that really showcases the barrels. No matter what temperature, though, all elements are present & accounted for. This was a real treat.

Q: Wow, I didn't think you would be this lucid. Great points! (Smiles conspiratorially) Are you just hyping this up because you missed out on Half Acre's Obsidian Throne?!
A: Wow. Too fucking soon. (flips table, Real Housewives of New Jersey-style) Fuck you, man.

Good call! They post on social media a reminder to have all orders printed out, and they appreciate it greatly, but they roll with it if you don't. It was just so cold that I didn't want them hanging out by my car, especially if it ends up raining/snowing.

I am a total Ryewine fan (and love Rye on Rye on Rye from Boulevard) - and buy way too much Ryeway each year (24 cans this year and contemplating more). I was a bit worried when I opened the can and caught that Apple Brandy smell right away, but it does not overpower the nose, and as others have said - it's well balanced and I can still tell that it's a Ryeway. It's not too sweet - just a terrific beer, and I think it will meld together even better over a bit of time.
On & On Part 1 is terrific - nice barrel and hits all the right notes. Really looking forward to the Part 2 barleywine.

Been away for a little but picked up my AB Ryeway and On & On today. My tldr reviews of both
On & On: Surprised that it poured more like a porter than like Phase 3 "porters" which are just stouts in terms of color, thickness, and taste. Really chocolatey. So enjoyable.
AB Ryeway: I audibly said "whoa" when I poured it. Sometimes there are what I term 'silent' beers when they get poured. They make no sound when they hit the glass and make none when they continue to pour. I've only ever experienced that with a few stouts and never with a rye/wheat/barleywine. Immediately lots of apple but followed up that delicious spice and boozy flavor from the bourbon/whiskey barrels. If anyone doesn't like these please let me know.

To me the stout vs porter label seems meaningless as a differentiator in most instances these days. If On & On: Part 1 were labeled as a stout I would not have blinked an eye. I enjoyed it. A solid no-frills barreled aged beer. Is it 'mind blowing'? Not to me, no, but I will certainly enjoy the cans I have. Looking forward to Part 2 as well. Cheers to Rev & HA for the collaboration. Signed, Rev (& HA) Fanboy FUPA God.

Apple Brandy and On&On were both very good

I agree with the porter label not being a porter

But aren’t all porters stouts but not all stouts are porters?

it tasted more like a barleywine to me?

...all stouts are porters, as a stout is a stout porter, i.e. imperial porter...oh :flushed::grimacing::confounded::thinking_face:

Based on the color and mouthfeel (which isn’t thin even like an imperial porter) I think it drinks more like a barleywine or rye wine than a stout/porter if that makes any sense.

A stout porter can carry your luggage, but a porter stout cannot?
