I think it will be the sellers. Once the buyers wake up and realize what they’re considering trading for an IPA.

I’m not a ticker, but these offers are absurd. I guess that’s what it takes to have a shot at a “legendary” beer.

I’m in the camp that I’d never go crazy trading for IPAs, etc., given the great ones readily available regionally. I think they should go $4$, but I guess that means I’ll never try Younger, via trade.

I think you’re underestimating the very weird storm of (1) the name recognition of (2) a nostalgic beer for (3) people who don’t typically trade as much/often... all on (4) BeerAdvocate, which is a different crowd in this respect relative to other platforms (ie older and more interested in trading for a hype-y WCIPA).

How many Younger’s should it take for a BBT?

Anyone know the value of an sr-71 of any vintage? What would it take to acquire in a trade?

I don't agree with any of this, but will readily acknowledge that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." So let's just say that there are plenty of consumers who feel it's a pretty special beer, and that just maybe there's a good reason it's in the BA top 10.

That being said, I would also recommend not going completely crazy in an attempt to land a bottle or two of PtY via trade. As alluded to by @William_Navidson, fou or zenne should easily get it done, but IMHO, you'd be substantially overpaying if you make that sort of trade for younger.

Fixed that for ya. And even then you would be short imo. Nobody in their right mind would trade a BBT for any amount of Younger. Hype be damned, at the end of the day its an ipa and there isn't an ipa on this planet I would trade away a BBT for.

Yeah happy I got in. I've enjoyed the beers and not having to deal with hype to get them....it's a nice change

I would not trade a BBT for PtY, but I can see it as an appealing trade to some. Last year PtY was around 0.5 VRU, which I thought was fair. I saw a trade yesterday pair some PtY with Cellarmaker DB 1000, which I thought was a cool trade offer.

If someone wants to close BBT with PtY you will have to go over on your end. I am guessing it would take at least a 6-pack of PtY with other beers from the release yesterday (PtE, STS, BP).

Heady Topper and KJ are all in the Top 10 as well, and no one's going ham for those anymore. This is more a function of a precedent setting beer that never ceased production maintaining a historic foothold on a list based on a huge spike of high ratings early in its life.

I enjoy WCIPA, but at least in NE Ohio, high quality takes are very easily accessible. If you don't think Fat Head's stacks up, understood, considering they didn't last long in Oregon. I'm just speaking from a side by side experience, while also having plenty of access to fresh FH locally. They're really second to none in my book.

I'm just trying to set more reasonable expectations to anyone reading. I haven't met a single person whose had PtY in the past 5 years that hasn't been thoroughly let down. People expect some kind of life altering experience going in, but it's really just a traditional WCIPA, aside from its moderately high ABV. Personally I enjoy PtE and even P4P more, and know many others who do as well.

    Great beer? Yes.
Worth standing in line for >1h? Sure, if you haven’t had it
    Life changing? Definitely not.
Worth discussing in the trade realms of BBT, Lot B, BTAC that’s not involving many multiples of PtY? Seriously, stop taking drugs, because it’s messing up your brain

Have a Hancock’s store pick (bourbon), haven’t seen any store picks move on here but adwtd + another Ba bottle seem close?

@Sabtos you are just describing the silliness of beer values. I think there is a bias that comes about because this is an IPA. However, I feel like you can make the same case for some high-valued BA stouts, BA barleywines, or saisons. If trading value came about from taste, then Appervation would trade as high as Maman or Assassin. But, that's just not how the game works....

Very true. As anyone following the SP thread knows (pre-snap), this is one of my greatest pet peeves.

    Ah well, first world problems!

Idk, i dont think there's a ton of demand for Hancock's in general, but i imagine the store pick would garner a little more attention. Probably closer to 1:1 with ADWTD unfortunately.

Yeah, I know store picks generally do better, thanks for the insight.

Any thoughts on what sort of plus is needed with ba bananaversary plus bananaversary to be in range of minutiae (3:1)?
