I had a flight at Barley's Brewing Co in downtown Columbus....

 

After a 3 hour morning riding the Sand Dunes in Glamis time to relax with a beer and let the kids shoot BB guns.

 

I don’t know about NA beer, but Monk is SUBLIME!

Was up in Wilmington NC earlier today dropping off a rental car and stopped into my favorite bottle shop there, Hey Beer!

 

Did a little shopping for some Asian inspired Tri Tips for tomorrow's dinner.
I really have to keep myself out of these markets as often as possible, because much like a craft beer store I can spend hours in there and walk out with a much thinner wallet. @SawDog505 is spot on as usual this DDH is freakin tasty.

Not beer, but my curiosity has definitely been rewarded with this one!

An apparent astringent character backed by the slight presence of pepper induced heat and a balanced, lurking smokey quality that is complimented brilliantly by the pineapple. Well done!

 

New Trail/ East Branch collab ipa. Very solid, more traditional style ipa.

 

DDH 755- Talus

look: 4.5 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.75 | overall: 4

Poured from a 16 ounce can into an IPA glass.

Look- Sudsy white head, medium haziness, straw, average head retention, below average lacing.

Smell- Grassy, floral, pine resin, overall weak aromatics.

Taste- Pineapple, tangerine, pine resin, earthy, slightly mild flavor.

Feel- Between thin and medium body, low bitterness, soft, creamy, clean finish, gentle carbonation.

Overall- Nice flavor and balance, just not as vibrant as I had expected. Also, the can states “DDH DIPA”, but this is the first 6.8% DIPA I have ever seen.

 

Are all of these 12oz pours?!?! That's an impressive flight!

Blah blah blah skilled? My Mother rest her soul is the one that got me started. Just like anything else, with patience anyone can learn. But its a constant process that never ends because its constantly changing. Now I will say taste is something that is pretty difficult to learn. Some have it and some really have to work hard and some never get it. I am lucky enough to have a good sense of taste. And been given some opportunities in the past that have helped me learn technique. I can tell you would make an excellent sous chef/cook. I have a hard time calling myself a Chef - thats something that takes a lifetime to earn. Looking forward to working with and that meal soon. Cheers!
