    First up in the barleywine tasting - 2015 Mother of all Storms

    This was one of my 100 bucket list beers. I've always wanted to try this one. Unfortunately, I think maybe I should have held out for a fresher bottle. I'm not sure how this drinks fresh, but there's a very distracting oxidised bitterness that quickly gets in the way. The aroma is divine and I can see a lot of killer barleywine in here, but something about it just seems off. I worry I'll have a lot of trouble finishing this bottle. I really hoped for a lot more, but perhaps I'll get to try a newer one, and it will show what this is capable of. Either that, or it's just a really bitter, tannic barleywine. Perhaps I'll never know.

    At the very least, I guess it's a tick.
