Bell's Light Hearted is my go-to if I want a low ABV beer.

@Detour12, you are from Massachusetts. What do you think of Night Shift Nite Lite?

    Cheers!

Lately, when I want something light in ABV, I go to Pilsner Urquell.
It has all the taste and mouth feel, but it's only 4.4% abv. That's light enough for me.
It is for me also easier to find that the German Helles.

I don’t drink enough beer to worry about light beers, I don’t drink and drive. But Yards Brawler is pretty good stuff and I’m not sacrificing anything.

Hamms Special Light. Great value for a decent light beer.

When I think light beer, I think of JA's House Lager, Allagash White and River Trip, all Von Trapp Beers especially their Helles. If I want something hoppy Night Shift Whirlpool is still pretty good.

I don't know what the OP meant when he said "light," but it's clear that I interpreted it differently than many others.

Me as well. A Helles is still full bodied to me and wouldn’t consider it light. I automatically assume light beer is either Miller or a low cal

From the OP (with emphasis in bold by me):

“I know light beers don't have a lot of flavor but some are better then others.”

It seems obvious (to me) that the person is asking about beers that are like the most popular selling beers in America (e.g., Bud Light, Miller Lite, Coors Light,…).

    Cheers!

I haven't seen it in over a year down here, but it's a good beer.

Schell's Light from New Ulm, MN. Extremely good light beer. It's too good for boiling bratwursts.

Yeah, dating back to the 1960s-70s "light beer" in the US is typically understood to be not just lower in alcohol content than the same brewer's "regular" beer but also fewer calories (usually around 1/3 less, not all the reduction attributed to the lower abv). Since listing alcohol content was banned in most US states into the 1990s, it was the low calorie/low carb aspect that sold those light beers.

("Tastes Great", you say? Well, I guess that could be marked down as typical and allowable advertising puffery.)

Pilsner Urquell and Guinness Draught might be under 5% - which has come to be considered the "standard" abv for beer - but the calorie content of those two beers is more in the normal range. I'd imagine that is also the case for the numerous "craft" beers noted in this thread, as well.

The Bell's Light Hearted (which is marketed as low calorie) that I mentioned in my first post has the same amount of calories as Bud Light.

(BTW, New Year's resolution: You gotta start sitting with your post drafts longer, your time to edit is much longer there. When I hit "reply" I was wondering why the quoted post was three times longer than the actual post I quoted. Oh wait, I'm replying to jesskidden before his edit window expired... my bad.)
