Good morning virtual bar. I had a fun Friday when I discovered I have a food allergy to something that was in the grilled ahi tuna and teriyaki udon noodles that I had in the cafeteria at my job. Major league bad reaction, but a nice Benadryl IV nap in the ER helped. Going to see an allergist to get to the bottom of it. But right now, having this and watching some more Watchmen before going back to bed.

I heard this song Thursday night for the first time and listened to it three times yesterday. The irony of the title and the events of my yesterday do not escape me.
Sounds like every one of the contiguous 48 has at least one location under 32 degrees this weekend. So stay warm and cheers, ad-vo-cats.

@mschrei , hope you feel better soon, and I'll link the Saturday Morning Flashback later today for you.

@RaulMondesi , Good Luck with your job search and congratulations on Trevor Bauer.

New beer for me this weekend as usual, this one a rare (for me) NEIPA from one of the few brewers of this style I seek out, Old Nation.

    Old Nation Cart Horse

Full story linked here.Long story short, it's a good NEIPA, but I like their other ones better.

Two debuts in 1980 from two of my favorite bands of the decade, though my interest in the latter ended after Joshua Tree.

Hope you get that sorted out soon. In the interim, it might be helpful to invest in an EpiPen. Cheers.

Thanks sir! I’m also going to avoid Chinese food until I get it sorted out. And thanks, @ChicagoJ. I know where to find me some XRT. May have the flashback on this morning myself. Cheers, gents!

@mschrei sorry to hear that! Hopefully you get some answers soon.

Also, great videos @ChicagoJ. One of my 2021 goals is to listen to whole music catalogs. I have the Talking Heads on the list.

I have a few lined up for later.

    Cheers!

Best wishes to @mschrei for a quick recovery! My best advice going forward to prevent similar situations is to stick to eating tuna out of a can. I will do my best to avenge your illness by consuming more than my normal daily intake of canned tuna today. I am starting out the day with a light, classic Wisconsin beer. After I consume a breakfast consisting primarily of canned tuna and assorted breakfast cereal, I will set sail on a beer voyage of treachery, mystery, and triumph!

[IMG] As the Dude would say that’s a bummer Matt! Hope you feel better soon man. This one is one dimensional, but looks good, aroma is awesome, taste is sublime, mouthfeel is rather large and creamy, and overall it is a great start to a Saturday. Cheers all.

Nasty shit, food allergies. Definitely get it figured out quickly - anaphylaxis can kill you fast. And consider that if you get the COVID vaccine - currently the Moderna has slightly less allergic reactions than Pfizer but the sample size is also smaller, so...

Good day BAs! Off to a cold start with a dusting of snow. Today's New Breakfast Beer is left over from last night's session of the Extreme Beer Fest, 2021 Cyber Edition:

A decent NEIPA, 3.98, rDev -3.2%. A rather odd combination of pineapple and onion, at least to my taste buds.

Thanks for the concern from this great community. Definitely going to get the allergy issue looked at, because other than my stenosis, I’ve been pretty healthy for my 48 years. Nap only lasted about a half hour before nature called, and while I was downstairs, my daughter decided a pre seven am wake up was what she wanted. Opened this, having a few sips, and then going to watch cartoons with her and hopefully doze back off. [IMG]
Another song I never heard before this week. This one is for @Shanex (French song, I know, big stretch).

Undoubtedly a great artist and singer, but smoking five packs a day and drinking that much (I’m not kidding) eventually got him. He’s reminded here for his numerous songs,

Bonnie & Clyde being one of my favorite:

    Heady Topper
    Double India Pale Ale
    The Alchemist

Drank from the can. But poured a few ounces out for reviews sake.

Hazy gold. Touch of orange. Smells of pine and spruce, sweet yellow peach, kings hawaiin rolls. Flavors of big evergreen, yellow “donut” peaches. There is a touch of sweetness that creates balance but this is still immense a flavorfully hoppy. Tang on the touch. Slick in the mouth. Lingering flavor. As it’s warming up there is some alcohol. A dry numbing quality in the mouth is there as well in the finish.

Canned end of December. I can understand why this is so loved. This is excellent. For me it is a treat and simply not an every day beer. If the price was not $19 a four pack? I still don’t know. I enjoy this but for me personally it’s a no because it reminds me of a local IPA. This is still not an easy find in my area. I didn’t trade for this. Not saying this is not a unique DIPA, I can sense this was in a class of its own but maybe no longer. Still an OG. The softness off a beer this big is beyond impressive. Maybe it’s because many have tried to replicate that I’m getting similar vibes.

    This beer cleared my sinuses.

Pulled this band shirt out my drawer today and forgot how heavy this band is. The last minute and a half of this song is some of the best stuff I have ever heard.

    PEACE

Definitely will check that song out. I know nothing about him but want to find more of his stuff, especially the Melody Nelson album. It has a real Air Virgin Suicides Soundtrack vibe to it. I heard that song and the first song I posted today on this week’s SiriusXM Serious Boredom with Patrick Carney show. Sadly, he’s stopping that show after seven years.

Ok, I’m going to check if I have any allergic reactions to drinking this in the morning, @mschrei
    [IMG]

I usually finish the night with Ten FIDY.

I’ve been inadvertently building up my morning allergic tolerance by sipping the last bits of it the next day. Hoping that has set me up to handle a full 12oz now.
