Light yellow body, clear; beautiful carbonation producing a thick, sculpted and sticky white head. Fine bready malt nose infused with some grassy and pear notes. Light malt grain taste with a moderate hop bitterness. Light body; crisp; gentle grain warmth; moderately dry throughout.

Partially Cloudy is decent and unassuming lager. It lacks a bit of lager smoothness and the taste is just a tad faded, but I'd be happy to drink more of this, no questions asked.

Mrs. BeerGoot is getting her hair done, and Rocket the Wonder Dog and I are watching 'Hamburger Hill". Later on, my wife and I head to a fine Greek / American restaurant for supper. We'll be celebrating her birthday (which is actually this coming Monday). A nice IPL seems to fit the bill as I ease into the remainder of this day...

[IMG] Poured into a 13 long stem tulip glass, canned on 1/26/2021. Pours a gorgeous hazy dark yellow with a finger sticky white head that leaves beautiful thick streaks of lace with excellent retention. 5

Aroma mandarin, ripe honeydew, white grapes, apricot, peach, and grapefruit rind pretty intoxicating. 4.75

Taste follows mandarin, honeydew, peach, apricot upfront with white grapes and white grapefruit in the bold long lingering finish. Fantastic! 4.75

Mouthfeel is pretty big, maybe a little dry and sticky it coats the entire palate, soft creamy carbonation, and at 8.2% it drinks huge in flavor but is really easy drinking. 5

Overall this is the finest example of Nelson I have ever had and probably one of the best made NEDIPAs I have ever had. Every time I have a beer from Trillium my expectations sore and they always deliver. 4.75 Wow beer @TheIPAHunter .

So I recently posted that I hadn’t purchase a hazy ipa in a while well I broke that streak. I saw this locally wanted to try it and have something new for the weekend that was a little different from my norm these days. Sorry for no appearance some beers are too good out of the can and I thought this was one of them. Meant to take a picture after but oops I finished it. Substance brewed by Bissell Brothers

Smell is fruity but not in your face it is subtle and pleasant. Some berry, citrus, and sweeter pine. Can’t stop smelling it the aroma reminds me of a subtle softer heady topper, with maybe a tad mor fruit arom. I literally can’t stop sticking my nose to the can. Only other beer I do that this much with is heady topper.

Taste follows the nose and is also pleasantly subtle and well balanced. It really does a good job of letting every thing shine. First starts out with the fruit notes above but finishes with a lovely pleasant grassy and soft pine taste.

Mouthfeel is awesome for this beer, smooth light to medium body. Very soft but has a nice bitterness to it and finishes pleasantly dry.

Really good beer, it’s well balanced and has some nice pine to it which I love. This one is right in between the old and the new. Like one foot in the past and one foot in the present. I actually wouldn’t hesitate to buy this beer again. Very good.

    Antidoot Analogia II

Pours a clean golden color with a small head, which receeds quickly.

Smells of funky, wooden oak, together with lighter mushrooms and ripe apples. Got an interesting white wine grape twist to it, featuring a pleasant fruitiness, together with a whiff of white pepper.

Has a pleasantly sparkly mouthfeel, exhibiting a light, dry and crisp body, resulting in a great refreshment.

Tastes of sweet apples with a unique fermented note to them, coming from the wine grapes in this, which also create a moldy, dusty quality. This establishes a great interplay between sweet and tart flavors from the very beginning, which gets enhanced by a wooden apple pith impression and dry herbs, together forming a pleasant bitterness. Finishes heavier and sweeter than expected, fruity, with an unforseen depth from the wine grapes and the wooden barrel, which produce leather, blue cheese and dried grains among a lasting dryness.

This is tasty throughout, benefitting from the unique grape inclusion quite a bit. The cider is complex, refreshing and incredibly well balanced. Antidoot, please make more cider, this is fantastic.

Coolship Peche Estate from Allagash. This uses peaches from Allagash’s own orchard.

Growler pour into a stemless wine glass. Hazy golden.

    Sharp, grassy on the nose.

Taste of tart peach and a little salty. Light, fresh mouthfeel with medium carbonation.

This is very different than the regular Coolship Peche—at least to my memory—much less sweet. Tastes more like the part of the peach right next to the pit as opposed to the juicy meaty part.
Still delicious and I was happy to have stumbled on it on my trip to the brewery.

Poured from a 16oz can dated 11/3/20 to a Nonic straight from the beer fridge.
Snow white puffy head over a gold hazy body.
Aroma is musty with a slight sense of soap.
Taste is hoppy but finishes with a musty wet-forest taste. Not bad, just very different. Leaves the empty mouth dry with an urge to pucker.
Body is on the high side of medium.
Overall, a very different beer. I honestly cannot form an overall opinion yet. There's one more in the fridge. Maybe I'll edit this review in a few days.

Taking a little break. Ive got my roasted Salsa Verde done and my Chicken stock is reducing so Im about ready to assemble my Chicken and Sour Cream Enchiladas. Time for a quick review. A beer provided by the most generous BA @Nugganooch - porch Bomber extraordinare.
A collab between Burgeon and Alvarado Street.
Mai First Crush DDH IPA w/Mosaic, Nelson and Strata.
Pours a crystal clear golden yellow with a creamy snow white head with excellent retention and lots of sticky lacing.
    Aroma is Nelson right out of the gates;
Vinous white grape, green grass, kiwi. This then melds into a wonderful tropical note of lush pineapple, guava, lemon/lime and some light wonderful floral notes of herb flowers.
Taste follows on an extremely light malt base of pilsner and pale wheat there is the white grape like quality with a light tropical fruit and tangy citrus as that classic West Coast pine and citrus pith bitter finish builds. Its crisp, clean and dry on the finish with a lighter side of medium body and a champagne like carb that lasts throughout. A great full flavored snappy warm weather IPA that boasts that that you dont have to hazy or turbid if youre DDH. Exactly what I dig in Southern Cali IPAs. Thank You Dane![IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    FrauGruber - Retro Speakers

Triple New England IPA with Citra Incognito, Mosaic BBC, Motueka, Citra BBC and El Dorado hops, from Germany (10.1%).

Pours a hazy, orange coloration with a small, fluffy head. Smells of very light biscuity malt and tropical/citrus hops, with notes of mango, papaya and lime peel, with just a hint of grassy dankness and cat piss as well.

Taste is a good balance of quite light biscuity malt and fruity, juicy, slightly dank and grassy hops, with slightly overripe notes of mango, papaya, grapefruit and lime peel, as well as just a hint of mint on the aftertaste. Finishes with a very light bitterness and some mango, lime peel and hints of mint lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth, somewhat soft mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

While this makes for a perfectly decent TIPA, I expect more from FrauGruber when it comes to this style and it absolutely pales in comparison to Superstition, their other most recent example of the style. While there is a good, expressive hoppiness to this, it doesn't feel that well-defined, feeling just a little muddled and overripe, with a light booziness as well, although it's really not that bad.

Overall, this makes for a pretty nice, rather hoppy TIPA that's dominated by the quite zesty grapefruit and lime peel notes from the Citra and Motueka hops, with lighter tropical notes and a great, although not quite excellent mouthfeel, while it's just a tad too sweet and grassy for my personal taste as well.

[IMG] Poured into a16 oz Snulip glass canned on 1/07/2021. Pours a gorgeous bright amber with a 2 finger sticky off white head with reddish hues, leaving tiny bubbles in thin lines of lace with excellent retention. 5

Aroma biscuit, bubblegum, brown sugar, caramel, toffee, and maybe a faint hint of piney grapefruit. Pretty darn complex. 4.25

Taste follows bubblegum, brown sugar, biscuit, toffee, caramel, and a little piney grapefruit in the balanced yet lingering finish. 4.5

Mouthfeel is above medium, a tad dry, gentle full carbonation, and at 10.7% it is a sipper, but because it is so complex it makes you crave the next sip. 4.75

Overall this one I shall be getting more of. I love a good American Barleywine and this one is fantastic. Wish it arrived a week earlier for @SierraNevallagash event last weekend. 4.5

I'm about to get started on dinner so I figure I'd get started on something refreshing and appetizing first:
Lemke Budike Weisse, a Berliner Weisse matured on fresh raspberries.

I loved their other BW with the woodruff so have high hopes for this one.

Right off the bat, you can definitely tell that this was brewed in the traditional way, utilizing both lactic and wild fermentations. The aroma is heavenly. Raspberry compote comes shining through so clearly, but it's also backed up with a host of complexities like wood, lemon juice, horseblanket and hints of flowers and sweet spice. The base beer is definitely there but the raspberries are allowed to hold center stage.

The palate is again dominated by raspberries but this time some screamingly tart lemon is right alongside it. It's as bracing as it is crisp and refreshing. Oak and tannins balance things out on the finish, which is quite lengthy and allows that touch of funk and canela cinnamon to show themselves. By half glass my palate has adjusted to the tartness, but boy howdy that first hit wasn't messing around.

Overall the palate is simpler than the nose promises, but what it delivers in that fruit is gorgeous and fresh. Lovely stuff, just over the line into A territory (4.4).

Sounds delicious. How would you campare that to a Belgian Style Lambic? With the wood and funk sounds like there are similarities.

Bells Black Hearted, Black IPA, this is a style I really enjoyed when I started my journey a few years ago but seems to have lost rank. Been searching for the latest Stone black IPA but no luck - then I stumble on this one, hell yea. Pitch black, nice head generation with decent retention, aroma is mild but there, pine and citrus like its brother, some dark malts and bitter bite as expected!

    Pühaste - Impetus Noir

Bourbon barrel-aged Imperial Stout wih Cassia and Ceylon cinnamon, from Estonia (12.5%).

Pours a pitch-black coloration with a small, fluffy, quickly receeding head. Smells of slightly roasted, caramel malt, chocolate, cinnamon and lighter notes of vanilla and licorice.

Taste is an excellent balance of slightly roasted, caramel malt, distinct, but not overbearing, cinnamon, strong milk chocolate and lighter notes of coffee, vanilla, tobacco and licorice, with hints of dark fruit and earthy oak as well. Finishes bittersweet, with a light bitternerss and some chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla and licorice lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a rich body and light carbonation.

This makes for a very enjoyable Bourbon barrel-aged Imperial Stout with a great cinnamon and barrel presence that never feels too ovberbearing though, as is often the case with cinnamon additives in my experience. The base Stout offers some very nice roasted and caramel malt, tobacco and licorice notes, which are enhanced, but not drowned out, by the cinnamon and vanilla presence here.

Overall, this makes for a rather complex brew with a great balance of sweet and roasted, bitter and spicy notes, as well as a good barrel presence. While it may feel just a tad too sweet and boozy for my personal taste, there's still a great overall balance to this, with the chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla and licorice notes standing out particularly.

There's definitely some crossover appeal if you enjoy Lambic, but this beer is really focused on the sour and fruit. The other aspects are merely accents, and whatever funk is here isn't really as 'mature' as you'd find in a Lambic.

The more I sip on this "midnight lager" the more I enjoy the subtle flavors of chocolate, molasses, and faint licorice. Based on the brewery, I did not have high expectations, but the reviews here have been very good for a beer brewed by a large and industrial European brewery. It says Limited Edition, so I am glad to try it before it disappears.

    Hey what's going on?!

Howdy folks. I am ready for this weekend. got new goodies, but also seemed to get through a tough week strangely. We had an ok dump of snow, nothing we couldn't manage down here, and strangely we're going to get some more tonight/tomorrow. Quite nice to see some of the white stuff. The last bit we got is nearly gone, heck it turned a high of 50 yesterday I mean come on?!

Well what's new for our hero today?!

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

Fluffy and big topped bright white rocky head, making an easy four fingers of height and lots of retention and staying power. Body is opaque, a bit of a dark lemon yellow, hinting with a touch of shine but also some dull custard like appearances. Not a turbid murky mess, but certainly not beaming. Simple looker.

Aroma is a nice dominant solid nose. Hits light pine and airy touches of earthy hop. Mild touches of woody smoke as well, with a mellow sense. Seems a little diverse on hop aroma slightly, and with a simple neutral malt and yeast presence.

Pretty surprising palate. Real juicy flavor of orange and lemon drops, hints a bit of sweetness and lemonade like character. Luckily sweetness isn't overbearing, but the body is a bit basic bordering on wet and light which is surprising, maybe even impressive, for an imperial. Light touches of lemon drop candy on the finish, and drinks so easily.

Not what I was expecting, but can't complain much here. Strangely feels and tastes like a real poundable IPA that at 8.5 just really isn't.

    look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.25 | 4.21/5 rDev +1.9%

[IMG] This one is going to be hard because I like this brewery and the owner/Brewers. Poured into a 16 oz tulip glass best before 12/31/21 assuming it was canned on 12/31/2020? Pours a very dark brown with a finger plus brown head with pretty good retention, but leaves no lace at all. 3.75

Aroma cinnamon, cocoa, nutmeg, coffee grounds, hints of vanilla, and some peppery spice. 3.5

Taste follows cinnamon hits first a little too much for me and kind of dominant, cocoa, nutmeg, vanilla, and some spice in the finish. 3.5

Mouthfeel is the biggest issue, thin, watery, lacking carbonation, not dry, and at 7.1% drinks smaller and has no business being called Imperial. 2.75

Overall this one for the average young man bun wearing Untapped Hipster might be a treasure, but for an old school BA who wants a big robust stout it is a huge disappointment. Again I love Doc and Michael, but I am so happy it was just a $4.99 single. 3.25

Yes...Lucky #13 is on the horizon. Thanks for posting here Andrew. We have some new blood that has definitely shown the true spirit of NBS BIF's. Funny, smart, and most definitely generous in their contributions and packages. (That's what she said!) :sunglasses: I had to get that one in. So all of you NBW regulars, something to think about. I'm just saying'.

In the meantime I now must pop on to Cyberfest...I'll cross post, if y'all will tolerate my decline over the evening.
