In your example used, I found a huge difference among the Easter Egg bottles of BCBS. Heaven Hill was like a glass of bourbon with a little BCBS splashed in. The Wild Turkey and Buffalo Trace were a bit more subdued in barrel character but still let the base beer shine. I’m holding onto a couple HH bottles to see what some time does but I feel like they were very hot fresh

Was enjoying reading about people favorites so far this year from the Deep Woods series.

Here's my list so far with a few yet to try.

    1. Thundertaker- The rye is perfect and the barrels are so expressive yet smooth. Base stout has sooo much fudge. It really did bring the thunder! Perfect drinkablility, mouthfeel, and carbonation levels. It ticks all the boxes. Top 3 canned offering of Deep Woods series.

    2. AB Ryeway- insane in every possible way. So much caramel, oak, and apple brandy. Hints of toffee to compliment the caramel notes. Crazy drinkable too. Perfect mouthfeel and carbonation levels. Top 5 "canned" offerings of Deep Woods series.

    3. DB VSOD- Those Weller barrels are amazing. Lots and lots of fudgy stout goodness. Massive & expressive barrel notes yet so smooth for the extremely high abv? How in the heck did they do that? Oh wait...It's Revolution Deep Woods. Duh. Top 5 "canned" offerings of Deep Woods series.

    4. Supermassive Cafe Deth- I have always love cafe deth. This had such good coffee it pretty much ruined me on Cafe Deth. Now I only want Supermassive!

    5. Cherry Deth- Dark choclate covered cherries plus really smooth bourbon & layer oak notes... yes please! This is right up there with Cherry Rye BCBS as the best barrel aged cherry stout that I have ever drank!

    6. Maple Deth- While a bit overly sweet, I think that the blend was still well balanced between Deth, the barrel, and the maple.

    7. Mixed berry ryeway- would have like more ryeway witha berry compliment. This was like a mixed berry lambic (that was on the sweeter side as far as lambic goes) with rye as a malt component. Still loved how drinkable this was like so many Rev Deep Woods offerings.

    8. Honey jacket batch 2. Sadly was just way too sweet. Batch 1 was so much better because it was a drier barelywine thread that paired flawlessly with the honey. Thinking of blending a 2019 SJ with a honey jacket batch 2 to balance the sweetness.

Still yet to try- Mindshaft & On and On part 1.

Have you tried selling it with a complementary can of Thundertaker?

Go into my garage pile of beer to get and revisit Thundertaker after seeing all the love again here lately (I wasn't wowed by it initially...or in subsequent takes). Accidentally grabbed and opened a Ryeway instead. Me pouring it into the glass...

Speaking of Rev Rewards, according to their newsletter this morning, there will be a hiatus on Rev Points started on the 15th until...?

The merch store got stacked with some pretty sweet stuff. I'm digging that new Freedom glassware.

Easy enough to copy and paste what was in the email newsletter:

"We are transitioning to a new restaurant point of sale and management system to make sure you have an overall better guest experience with us down line. To successfully switch to the new platform there will be a temporary hiatus on all Rev Rewards activity starting Monday, February 15th. More details soon."

Seriously, just give us one massive, over the top, pastry stout deep woods release. Like a Deth Tar Fruit punch with 5 fruit types or a choco-vanilla-coffee-prune barlewyine stout blend....We know you guys do what you do well, just maybe try sneaking the ferrari out of the house and opening it up on the highway late at night to see what it can do.

Because details matter and a simple copy-and-paste doesn't leave people wondering why the program is on hiatus?

Finally have had all of the Deep Woods releases from this past season. As others have said, it was a great year in total. Everything was at least a 4 or better in my view. So it's pretty much splitting hairs to rank these out. The groups are ranked, but within the group is basically equal.

    AB Ryeway
    Supermassive Cafe Deth
    Deth by Cherries

    Cafe Deth
    DBVSOD
    Deth's Tar
    Thundertaker

    On & On Part 1
    Straight Jacket
    Mixed Berry Ryeway

    Ryeway to Heaven
    Mineshaft Gap
    Maple Deth

    Honey Jacket
