Hello guys, I`m needing some advice. My uncle`s birthday is in 3 weeks and I`m looking for a special, and it happens to be that the is a really big beer fan. Thats why I did some googling and came past this European website (I live in France) which sells "DIY brewing kits and materials" which looked really great to me. See here; https://www.zamnesia.fr/33-headshop/416-brassage-amateur
Now I`m wondering if this would actually work and is it possible to brew some tasty beers with it?

If you have any experience with the products or similar products please share! Need some quick help as I have to order it in a couple of days if I want it to order in time.

Your expectations are not realistic. We are all homebrewing enthusiasts here, but for a new brewer to make something special in less than three weeks is not practical. You really want to spare your Uncle from pretending to enjoy beer made by his favorite niece. The safe bet is to go with commercial brews, in your part of the world there are some outstanding selections.

To be successful you need enthusiasm, some special equipment, dedication, and time. Members of this forum will gladly offer solid advice on the process, but expect a fairly long learning curve. If you're really set on brewing, a realistic goal is to have something special for his birthday next year. That we can help with.

The page you linked has one kit, and it doesn't have everything needed to get some homebrew into a glass.

Is it your intent for you to try and brew some beer for him, or to give him a kit for his birthday so he can homebrew his own? Let's figure out that one and go from there.
If the kit is for him, is he game to try new stuff, or is that you're thinking "Hey, making your own beer would be kind of cool."?

Edit: Welcome to BA, we could use more international members. :beers:

@JaneRowland check this site out - this is a more established online retailer. A starter kit here will be more complete:

They are located in Belgium so maybe you can get shipping before his birthday.

if your uncle is a beer fan, he will love making his own beer! It's not that hard and could launch a serious hobby for him, good luck !

It's a good idea and a great thought but I'd be wary of that kind of kit if he's really into beer. Best case scenario would be he makes one beer with it, loves the process, and buys all new stuff to do it more properly. The only thing he'd continue using would be the capper.

Perhaps look into something a bit more robust, with a proper brew kettle at least
