I mean ... I manually typed everything in today for the release and got a 2-pack, so it is possible to do that ...
    Exactly!

It's discriminatory not to. What if you don't have a car? What if you aren't physically able to leave your house? Should rare beer releases only be for the rich and able?

It was truly random. Had 5 devices, 2 internet sources and luckily went 1/5. No Proxies next time!!!! Locals only

For the people not winning, if you haven't put a low latency dedicated connection next door to BTP, Universe, Tok or OZNR's data processing servers, what the hell do you expect?

FWIW I have been beating this drum for years and years about breweries pushing prices higher and higher. I've probably been on my soapbox about this for over 5+ years at this point.

My point has always been that those who push the price highest will then allow other breweries to increase their pricing at a discounted percentage of ones that go the highest. We now live in a landscape where a two pack 16oz cans is being sold for $40, not including tax, and people are trying to justify it because, well, *insert other brewery name here* also charges that much. It's what I've been saying all along, price increases for a specific beer from a specific brewery matter, because it's then adopted little by little by other breweries.

And before all the internet libertarians come at me and say "YES BUT THEY SOLD OUT IN SECONDS," you're right, they did. And I've always said breweries can charge whatever they want for their beer. What I'm talking about is how we as a collective respond to those price increases. It also has a longer term impact on the customer's of the brewery. I used to be a massive Half Acre fan but frankly some of their pricing decisions over the years have rubbed me the wrong way and I've really decreased the amount of Half Acre I buy on a regular basis.

Gonna be hard for me to talk beer pricing with someone who has Old Style as their avatar.

Still shocked about the proxy situation for this release. You’d think after the benthic debacle that they would’ve done everything possible to take care of the local fans/customers/supporters

$40 was too rich for me to take a chance on. I'd gladly spend $20 to split with someone n if it is solid, but I'm not drinking 2 $20 cans.

Maybe they did it to avoid this: "I'm so glad you didn't allow proxies for this release so I could get two cans of beer! My wife thought it was silly for me to come down here and expose you to my case of Covid potentially putting your life in jeopardy just for beer, but they didn't allow proxies and I needed my whales."

Really curious what these “pricing decisions over the years” are? IMO, Half Acre does a fantastic job of supplying quality year round beers at affordable pricing while also sprinkling in one offs/monthly brews that fall in line competitively priced against other breweries. They have a wide variety of formats (tall boys, 12 packs, 500ml wilds) and almost always deliver quality liquid inside the vessel.

This was a double barrel aged treated stout with a crazy amount of adjuncts (vanilla beans are one of the most expensive adjuncts around currently) laid on top of it. I can guarantee you HA is not laughing to the bank on this one. My only suggestion would have been to sell it by the single can (limit 2) but they were transparent about the format and price up front which is more than fair.

I know you're the guy who beats that drum, and I don't necessarily disagree with your view at all. Honestly, hopefully I get priced out one day and I can just live that Fader life and move on with things.

Some math on a Friday afternoon - If DB Catch Hell were a 750ml bomber, it would basically be $39.11out the door after tipping staff a bit. Although that's definitely at the higher end of my price range that I like to entertain, I don't find it absurd for a DB extended aged beer. Especially from a brewery I love supporting.

Lastly, DB Catch Hell is cheaper than KY Fog. Let that one sink in a bit...

Yes the price was high for this particular beer but they used a lot of ingredients and also expensive ones, not to mention two sets of barrels. fwiw their benthic prices went down per ounce when they moved from bombers to the two pack cans last year. Yes Half Acre prices can be a lot for some beer, they also have some fantastic pricing for their more well distributed beers. It's not like someone randomly selected pricing for this to try to test the boundaries of what people were willing to pay.

One dude on Twitter is raging at Half Acre because he didn’t enter his zip code right, and then when he finally entered it correctly, the beer was sold out. He’s saying this is Half Acre’s fault and they ran a “bungled release.”

:joy::joy: Of course it’s their fault! “This should’ve been a proxy-free release to take care of the locals that support you year round!!!!” Lmao people never surprise to amuse me

Honestly, I really want a brewery to just go Jimmys Seafood twitter on these people and call them all out for being entitled assholes.
