Good Morning Beer Advocates. Sun beginning to creep up this morning, but too cold to venture out. Cracked open the first of three new IPAs from Revolution from their new Wrestling Themed Variety Pack.

Typing up notes for the New Beer Weekend thread.

Two parting shots from yesterday's thread I couldn't chime in on before the lock.
    • Does Untapped which now owns BA host pictures? Hopefully that is a yes, and will soon be a yes here.
    • I haven't watched the NFL since 2000, so I'm not necessarily arguing based on my limited knowledge of Brady's MI and rookie year, or anyone since. Just saying if my life depended on a win, I'm picking the fan's consensus G. O. A. T., despite the fact many likely never seen him play, selected in 2014, and somewhat shocked he wasn't mentioned in the conversation yesterday.
Back to wrestling, Nelson-Hero is the most wrestling based product since Mean Gene was released back in the day. Here is a tribute to the man that beer was named for interviewing one of my favorite wrestlers from back in the day.

    Time to Polka!

did not review this one. I went back to back with this so this is my second one. Just felt like a dry hopped Pilsner. Light bodied. Maybe a bit thin. Lemon, noble hop presence. Canned last month but not huge hops. Just dry enough. The malt is subtle in this but the hops are not a big showcase. It’s still very balanced. “Hoppy” Pilsner is not this. This simply feels like a Pilsner in which the hops were only added after the fact. Which is exactly what I wanted. Definition of the term lmao

Wanted to also share the Thai Green Curry I made last night.

Good morning BAs! It’s 75° and raining cats and dogs, so I’m holed up in my “office” with the puppy, and drinking a KBS Espresso:

Bottled 10/21/20. Poured at 51°. Seems that I’m tasting more chocolate at this colder temperature, the coffee nose/taste becoming more prominent as the beer warms. Tasty coffee stout!

A beer run to Tampa is on the agenda for today...hope inclement weather doesn’t hold me back; we shall see... Cheers and have a saturated Saturday y’all!

Another 8 hours down. I was ehausted when I woke up, but had a good meal. The chipotle mayo with the fried chicken wraps was awesome. Just a ham sub. Big fan of the chips as well. I need to make an excel spreadsheet to track the flavor reviews lol. I am going to Der Dutchman with my gf for valentines dinner at 11AM and we will add a salad bar to the tab. Going to be delicious.

This is finna be a long post so strap in.

    Forgotten Boardwalk
    Spy House
    English IPA
    5.8% ABV
    Cherry Hill, NJ

Firstly. I love forgotten boardwalk because I was born on the shore and from a shore town with a lot of “lore” and “weird” history. The do this so well. As much as I love philly I feel connected to these places.

    from the can:

“the spy house was built circa 1650 along the lonely Port Monmouth shoreline. According to legend during the Revolutionary War, it was a popular tavern and drinking spot for British troops. It’s owner at the time was an innkeeper named Thomas Seabrook who was a patriot in the New Jersey militia. Allegedly, Seabrook would get the redcoat soldiers liquors up to spill military secrets and then passed his overheard intelligence on the Colonial forces. Over the years mysterious legends have been attributed to the property including stories of supernatural happenings, spirits and ghostly visions.”

I was grew up in the area and my father lived in Leonardo which is the next town over from Port Monmouth. This location hits home for those who are familiar with that northern NJ shore and I love it.

    TL;DR.

    For the beer:

Hazy mahogany, brick red body with an almost tan head. Smells of earth, spruce, nutty grains, chestnut, non descript citrus. Taste follows with earthy malts up front. Molasses. Dirt. Walnut. Followed by a sharp green almost vegetal but not quite, hop bite that is dry and lingers making you more thirsty. Feel is full bodied and creamy. Dry. The hops at first laid low. Was like an ESB at first. Still very well may be. Then the ipa aspect came in after the first few sips. I really like this one a lot.

labeled an English IPA. Could be labeled a hoppy ESB. Or just an ESB on the hoppy side for that matter but the malts shine first. Then hops follow suit.

    Stunning. Excellent. Glorious.
