Maybe. I was just surprised I skipped over them during that time. I jumped from the bombers to large format cans.

    Got my first mail shipment.

Had the Lonesome Road pale ale... very nice but like most session pale ales, it lacks body. Understandably so. Tree House Beneficiaries is really the only <5% pale ale that has nailed it. I really enjoyed it but..

German Afternoon German Pils... bang bang. Incredible beer. Just based off memory I probably enjoy this more taste-wise than The Standard. I just love the grassy hoppy punch the german pils provides.

    Looking forward to the rest!

If I recall I think Chris changed the recipe a bit, and I think it was when they made the move from 12 oz. cans to 16 oz. cans and started calling it "Black Lager", with the bear on the logo.

Also, if you look closely at the 12 oz. can @juliolugo posted in this thread, it says "4.0%" on it.

Yeah, it's really solid. I like Tmavé more (like one of my top two favorite dark lagers more), but they're two different tasting beers within the same style. The latter being much smoother for my palate and the former tasting almost more "roasted/bitter" if that makes any sense.

Yup, it's an EXCELLENT beer. I wouldn't compare it to The Standard though, they're really two completely different styles.

A Northern German Pils is about as hoppy, dry, and crisp as a pale lager can get without becoming an IPL.

It would be like comparing Pilsner Urquell with Jever.

Not exactly the same thing, but think West Coast IPA vs. New England IPA too.

Absolutely makes sense. It's definitely tilting towards roasty/bitter port territory. I'm pretty sure I've had Tmave at the brewery but can't bring any details to mind.

And good to know on the recipe change.

Ok, tried my first Notch today. Just the Session Pils but it was fantastic. The Mrs and I may try and head up to the taproom tomorrow and grab some of the new stuff. It's a damn good and easy drinking Pils and I can't wait to try more.

Not relevant to this thread, but also tried Jack's Abby Post Shift, Night Shift Santilli, and Bent Water Blast Off. I think I'm going to like it here in Saugus.

Take advantage of the Lukr(s) if/when applicable (onsite) + faucet gauges, as staff is resourceful/trained in practice, which is not always the case

    Add Sovereign Pils

I dig Session Pils, but I don’t even know if that’s a top ten Notch beer for me anymore.

You’re in for a real treat my friend.

Oh, you should head to Kowloon for some Saugus wings. Kowloon is pretty much like the City Hall for Saugus.

Session Pils is one of my personal go tos as well as one of the beers I recommend the most for parties. It's good, approachable, and available - all things that appeal to folks who may not be into beer to the extent we are. I do conquer with @AlcahueteJ though. There are cranking out great beer after great beer in Salem right now.

Drove up to Salem today and picked up Salem Lager, The Standard, and Lost in the Dream. Haven't tried Salem yet, but the other two are fantastic as well.

And I've had a few people tell us about Kowloon. As a big fan of wings, I'll definitely give them a try.

Given what I've seen written of his Portland weekends, that must be one hell of a time!

    (Sorry, couldn't resist)

Surely there’s a beer name in here somewhere.

    From Twitter last night:

Salem, Shooting/Stabbing, Notch Brewery, PD Reporting a party down either shot or stabbed, possibly multiple patients

U/D Salem, updated location 286 Derby St, in the alley behind Notch Brewery, 1 party down with gunshot wound, searching for possibly more victims

Final U/D Salem, 1 patient only, transported ALS to Salem Hospital, PD holding the scene

There's better Chinese food in the area in my opinion, but the Kowloon is an institution.

You'll also likely visit Market Street in Lynnfield a lot by default. It has the most going on by far in the area. If you ever have questions or need recommendations shoot me a message. I grew up a mile from there and know the area well.

This was before I became a pretentious young professional and moved to Somerville.

Ha, is this regarding the Kowloon comment or was this about how good Notch's beers are?

Man, I haven't had an epic "AlcahueteJ-style" Portland weekend in awhile. This is the first year I haven't been up to Portland since maybe 2014/2015 or so. Definitely going to plan a trip for this summer.

I think it's more Sheppard using conquer instead of concur and cskollman using it for his joke.

The home Kolsch kit sounds like a lot of fun but I think I’m holding off on my next order until Pitch-Lined Pils is available. Hoping that’s soon. Still have some Cerne Pivo and Biersal to work my way through.

I just signed up for a 3-month subscription and it should be stated that a major influence to that was that I saw Brienne posted about brewing a British Bitter.

    Saw what now!?

As many of you know, I'm a lager boi, but what you may not know is that I arguably like English session ales even more...

I'm also a closet New England IPA drinker...and not because I'm ashamed of it, but because I literally drink it in a closet and cry.
