Sounds like Lindley Park, it’s Chocolate and raspberry in 2nd use Bourbon barrels. I like it, and some years it’s extremely viscous with the raspberries. I like this particular fruit mixed in with a stout.

Hmm? Maybe better to just keep this between you and me.

Dale, I searched for your post/photo and you are indeed correct that Red Oak has a very slight haze (in comparison):

So, my above post of which beer is which was indeed screwed up. It turns out that the Mainstay Poplar Pils was the clear(er) beer and the beer that was a bit more balanced between bready malt and hops with Red Oak more of a sweet-ish Pilsner malt flavor.

Oh well, they were both tasty beers which I very much enjoyed drinking.

    Cheers!

P.S. From the Red Oak motto: "Unfiltered, unpasteurized, no preservatives." That should have been a dead giveaway of which beer was which to me. :flushed:

I’m really disappointed they’re going to a once a year release, and no idea how long they’ll run it, imo that’s a mistake imo, based off the flavor profiles of their other beers. I wouldn’t mind so much if Old Mecklenburg was in distro here, but it’s a hike, and really good Pils aren’t available. Funny enough I don’t like Burials Shadowclock Pils that’s fairly highly rated, so there’s not really much around.

You're not technically fired, I'm just offering my services as an alternative. Haha I suppose @FBarber isn't technically obligated to use me, but I did deliver. So...

Jack, Red Oak's original brew pub here at Guilford College (less than a mile from my house) was always a great place to take the kids, get a sandwich a drink a beer. It was a snow day ritual. Red oak is a true pioneer and locally is very popular and the beers keep getting better and better. Nice reviews!

Well, if I go with Ledyard or Stonington instead of Salem, it won't be walking distance anymore, so you're probably still a more reliable supplier.

Dale, hopefully you (and your Dad already?) will get your vaccine relatively soon and come back home to visit and enjoy the plethora of year-round Pilsners here. As you already read I enjoyed the Mainstay (which is year-round) but there are many other high quality year-round locally brewed Pilsners as well. I would recommend Sterling Pig Shoats Pilsner to you but there are several others I could mention.

It would seem that in your area Pilsners do not sell well enough to support a year-round distribution?

    Cheers!

I'm very reliable although not closer than you'd be. I'm just shy of an hour to FF as I'm five minutes from MA & RI. I barely consider myself a resident of CT, especially since I'm originally from MA and work there.

I get my second shot March 8 and it takes about 10 days to take effect. I’m planning on a visit home, my parents health isn’t so great.

No idea on the Pils but as most things have to do with money it would follow its not a great revenue producer. Sadly I think it’s their best beer.

Ahh, gotcha. I used to live about 15-20 min from Westerly (an hour from Worcester). Basically anything East of the Thames is hardly CT proper, but it's also the majority of the CT I know.

the reason I did not put a style here. This to me screams cream ale variant and not lager. Website doesn’t tell me. This is also not JW Dundee with a new look. It’s just a whole nother beer. It’s a touch lighter than a cream ale but that could be from a honey like sweetness. It’s not candy. It’s not sugar. It’s real honey. And just a touch cutting through a semi musty, generic bread type flavor with a touch of Vienna malt characteristic. I wouldn’t say chocolate. I wouldn’t say toffee. None of that. The sweetness is nondescript. It sits between cream ale and an American lager in terms of body. Almost no carbonation but it is not flat. Not sticky. If it rides the lager train this is a big bitch. The must and “american adjunct” type situation is there. But I’d call this genessee cream ale 2.0. And for the better. I love this.

I’m very happy with this one especially for a $6 six pack.

My wife accompanied me to my local beer store today and I ended up buying her a few sours.
This is one of them, Scarlet Starlet from Ex Novo Brewing Company.
A clear cherry amber color with a tiny off-white head.
    Aroma of tart fruit.
    Understated tart cherry taste.
Nicely tart/sour. My salivary glands liked it.
    Not a bad beer.

The newest fruited sour from Branch & Blade. Sack Lunch: Raspberry, PB, Fluff.

Poured into a 12 oz. Mason jar. I’m not really a hipster but I used to do a lot of canning back in the day.

Dull raspberry red with a thin white non-retentive head.

Smells like a raspberry jam and peanut butter sandwich.

Very sweet while it was cold from the fridge. After warming up you really get the peanut butter and fluff going.

Overall another very good fruited sour from a friendly local brewer. The Caramel Apple is still my favorite but this is a close second.

I agree, I can hit Fox Farm and Tilted Barn easily and since I work in MA, TH is no problem. Since I'm over NEIPA's, I prefer FF as I love their Farmhouse ales, Altbier and Bitters. I do enjoy a nice WCIPA so I'll take in some Pliny or Bodhi to scratch that itch.

@Roguer if you’re within walking distance of fox farm when you move you’ll be within walking distance from my aunt and uncle too. Sadly haven’t seen them in a long time.

Stonington also a special place, we used to go to the blessing of the fleet when I was a kid. My grampy was a fisherman and his boat was there. You got me reminiscing about some amazing childhood memories. It’s such a neat town.

    G'day BA!

I found this at Liquor Shed in Casper today and it is pretty impressive!

    Canned February 10th.

Pours a hazy pale gold with an abundance of foam lots of sticky lacing.

I get a lot of citrus grapefruit, some notes of pine, a bit of toasted malt in the smell.

Taste is very nice. Grapefruit citrus, some pine, has some resinous qualities as well as hop oils. Toasted malt is there but not assertive. Very hoppy with a medium bitterness level.

Good mouthfeel that leaves a stickiness on the tongue from the hops.

My,this is so good and easy drinking. Price for the 4pack of 16 ounce cans, $13 and some change.
