Two needed updates on BeerAdvocate

I don't understand what you mean here. The old thread-within-a-thread type of commenting?

 

I kinda like having to scroll through the thread to reply as it (hopefully) pushes someone to read through the thread so as not to ask a question which has already been asked/answered or post a comment which has already been posted, But hey, that's just me.

 

I’ve never uploaded a photo when adding a new beer, in part because I can’t figure the way to format the pic properly. Streamline this and I promise I’ll add a pic of all the random assorted kvass I find!

 

Find a picture of the beer you want to upload, or take your own
Download the picture to your computer
Go to https://resizeyourimage.com/
Upload the picture here using Choose File
Set your width to 150 and your height to 300
Move the box over the beer bottle/can
Use the Zoom In and Zoom Out to get the bottle/can the size you want
Click on the Resize button
On the new page you will have your image. If the size is over 20 K you can use the quality buttons to increase or decrease the size
Click on Save and it will download to you computer
Now you just need to upload this picture to BA

 

I think you are discouraged from using photos you "find" as they can present ownership issues. After that a great overview of the process. It's a bit awkward at first, but fairly fast once you get used to it.

 

Unless I counted wrong (always a possibility), that's 10 steps, involving at least 2 websites.

understood, but the reason I use that site is because it allows you to crop out the container if your picture wasn't actually optimized for the 150 x 300 format. And yes not the easiest, but actually takes less than a minute to do. I honestly don't think you can automate the process and expect to get quality pics as a result. If the same person took the pics then yes, but every picture is going to be a little different so there is that

 

You lost me at computer.

 

I finally went through the major hassle of taking my own picture, resizing it, saving it again, then uploading it to the beer's page. I did this a couple times and found my photos weren't being approved by the mods, and I was given no reason why. So I gave up. I'm guessing those few beers I tried will never have a photo on this site since they're one-time brewed.

 

Is this the part where someone brings up beeradvocate should have an app again or am I jumping the gun?

You have just made my case for why I don't even care about posting pics. More power to those that do...
