I'm surprised DM wasn't offered to LC. Was that "public" information before the release? I looked back on the pages in this thread and didn't see any mention of it. Was also a reminder of all of the releases I've missed on just this year...

LC knew they weren't getting it.

You could argue that Side Project made some of their best beer releases of the year available to the public instead of just to LC like DM and DB MITW. But also BBT and For Gabe and RBBT. I think this is a really nicely balanced approach by SP looking at the last years releases in the big picture.

From what has been communicated this is mostly due to not having the tasting rooms open right now. They said DM, DB MITW, maybe even DB anabasis would have been on site only but since they can't do that they are selling them this way. None of those had a high enough bottle count to give to all members.

I think in a normal year the big BA beers that went to the public besides BBT would have been onsite only. I assume that when there wasn't enough to go around for the LC, the next best choice was to sell it to the public which of course LC can buy as well. Not to forget that LC got DB Anabasis and MJK, 2 world class barleywines!

I imagine there are still kegs & bottles of all of these waiting for special events. LC party, anniversaries, stout week, invitational. Hopefully even a random Tuesday for locals.

With Cory's remark below, expectations for draft should probably be tempered, at least for some of the newest releases throughout the pandemic. Maybe it only pertains to non-BA, less limited releases though.

Anyone else excited about the new BA Barleywine? I'm going with A.V.C.(Anabasis Vanilla Cinnamon) as the name. Don't let me down Cory! LOL

This was my exact thought - hard to know what’s being kegged and what’s seeing extra bottles, but I’m reaaaally hoping it’s non-BA bottles and specialty BA kegs. I’ll drive my happy ass to StL for that goodness, as @Affinity alluded to. Imagine the pent up demand of the cellar/brewery as we see temps warm and COVID down, vaccines up. Little slice of happiness.

There was actually more stouts made available to public this year than LC. Yeah they got two big barleywines, but not everyone loves that barleywines

I’m hoping this year looks more like 2019 than 2020 but since the membership has at least tripled since then, I’m doubting it.

It was at 600 last year and they added people this year

2019 seemed to be ~225 since we used to have to sign pickup sheets to get our bottles.

That seems "huge" given what I imagine their overall output is. Do you know what size brewhouse they have? Barrel output on a yearly basis, prior to pandemic?

    Does anyone know?
