I would just say that they can be a potent mixture, if folks aren't polite. There's a bunch of folks here whose politics are 180 degrees away from mine, but we still enjoy shooting the shit over various topics.

Politics, unless someone is just a full blown racist, ****, sexist, whateverist bastard, is one of the silliest things to dislike someone over.

I was equally offended when a couple of well respected BAs insisted that it was acceptable, nay, encouraged to store liquor in the freezer!

But on a serious note that guy sounds like a douche. The internet is full of mean people, who are really just cowards hiding behind a screen. One of many reasons I have zero interest in popular social media entities. But I wouldn’t stress over it micada, sure you can report but is it really worth your time? Just ignore people like that.

I’ve had TO for politics, it’s a beer site, and I can guarantee your not changing anyone’s mind on any forum. That’s can be very heated if you let it, better to not go there. I’m hard headed though, sometimes I fall for the bait if it’s an intentional troll, but I’ve got a few guys blocked.

Ah, see I would take a different approach...I think it could be great sport to engage the fool directly and actively and challenge him as to why he was calling the guy out for trying too hard to be liked. I'm a big fan of giving people a taste of their own medicine. I prefer to fight my own battles rather than "report" someone. But I do agree that the insult should not go unchallenged and reporting him is one way of doing it.

 

I’m being maleigned here behind truth and half truths. If you noticed I mentioned drinking stouts and porters and such at 48-50 degrees or they taste weird. Lighter bodied beers at 34-35, Actually I don’t remember doing anything but mentioning how I take my beers, no arm locks here. lol,

But harassing other BA in a PM is different than a quick reaction in an open thread that’s a reaction. That took some thought, I probably personally would report him, but I’d tell him to FO and block him.

 

There's the whole off topic forum now if you really want to engage a political discussion on here. Not sure you'll get much traction but the option is there

I once saw a guy in a gritty costume fist fight a guy in a flyers themed Santa costume and a jeep tear off a Nissan bumper in the Wells Fargo lot the same night. A dude in a Jets hockey jersey got assaulted with so much beer and food to ruin his jersey. I was like these beers are $12 wtf are y’all doin lmao

 

That's my experience with sports forums as well (New York Giants). The maturity level here is higher. Period. And I credit @Todd and @Jason for helping to cultivate this type of space.

 

Has to be a minimal tolerance policy, you get a little leeway but cross a line no. It’s easy to have a chaotic board, then the good posters leave and it simmers down to just the assholes. When I left they went from hundreds to maybe a dozen. Guys just said fuck it it’s not fun I’m out. I told the admin that was going to happen and he just let it happen. So he’s maintaining a board with maybe 6 guys on it, don’t know don’t care.

 

Yeah, that would be my approach as well, but some folks aren't as assertive as I am.
