For me Notch, Trapp, Zero Gravity are the quick go to, lately Lost Nation has added to thier
lager portfolio and it has been excellent.
I would add for your consideration
The Northfielder from Four Star Farms, Ive enjoyed each of the batches produced.
A newer brewery (with a superb veteran brewer) with a solid Pilsner, cant go wrong
    Cheers

Grabbed Idle Hands Gretel German Pils at the weekend. Been a while. Was absolutely lovely.

If Luppolo is a solid representation of Italian pilsners, sign me up for more italian pilsners.

Heck of a lineup. I really liked Salem Lager.

I am considering visiting Idle Hands for the first time this weekend (well, first since it was in that shitty old dungeon with Night Shift many moons ago). I am interested in the Smoked Helles and Czech pils. That said, I don't like going south of Andover.

Some alterations being put on Salem Lager (i.e. malt), so looking to see how the revisit fares when released

Glimmen was a rare miss for me from Schilling. Smoke was barely there, and overall the beer lacked flavor.

I'm going to pick up some Salem Lager since it just showed up at my local, I can't remember if I've had that one before or not.

Also picking up Notch's Altbier and Tafelbier today (not a lager, but whatever).

Oh wow, you're in for a treat. Nice little tap room. Lots of good places around there as well, might as well make a day of it.

For future batches, or this last batch?

Future per their comment from February’s release “next batch will feature the addition of malt sourced directly from Bamberg, Germany”

Im not joking that I don’t like to go south of Andover. There’s a great little Italian joint we used to go to in Malden. Nappys or maybe it’s with an I. Good stuff.

Some folks might be interested in knowing that Victory Brewing uses Pilsner Malt from Bamberger Malzerei.

    Cheers!

I grew up in Melrose and I always felt the same about going south of Oak Grove.

Nappi’s, I’ve been there. Nice little small authentic place.

Less than a mile’s walk from Idle Hands is also Faces Brewing, Hugh O’Neill’s, and Mystic Station.

While I’ve never been, everyone raves about Dom’s Sausage too.

I just moved to Mass from Florida at start of year and loving the lager love. I definitely will seek out some of the brews mentioned in this thread. I was shocked and thrilled walking into Julios to find a Polotmavy from Schilling.

I’m currently on lookout for hoppy Dark Lagers if anyone has info on any of them about. For example in past I’ve had:
    Stony Creek Blackwater Pils
    &
    Jack’s Abby Cascadian Schwarzbier

thanks can’t wait to start exploring more breweries in person once allowed

Right there with you Jow. We moved to Saugus in Feb and have only had a beer at one brewery (Idle Hands). Can’t wait to get to others.
    Cheers!

Jack's hasn't brewed cascadian schwarzbier in years it feels like, so don't expect to see that on shelves. If you're not totally hung on finding literal DARK hoppy beers, Jack's does have Lashes out right now which is a hoppy deep-reddish IPL.

Can't for the life of me think of a hoppy dark lager that's available right now - am I blanking on something obvious everyone?

Schilling Jaroslav or Modernism? Both are still out there. I loved Jaroslav, while Modernism was just pretty good but I know others really like it.

Jaroslav description "International Dark Lager: A traditional Bohemian style rarely exported out of Central Europe. A session lager with the malt backbone of a Munich Dunkel and hop schedule of a Bohemian Pilsner."

Modernism description "Inspired by the Czech black lager tradition, this beer features a deep complexity from the decoction process and a hop schedule typical of Bohemian beers. Notes of dark malts, bittersweet chocolate and caramel dominate. The finish is dry; 4.8% abv."

or Austin Street Succinct, never had this one myself though.

    Schwarzbier - 4.9% abv

A traditional German Schwarzbier. With the look and aroma of a porter but the drinkability of a classic German lager, this beer pairs perfectly with warm days and summertime cookouts.
