Nice to be back at the bar at Revolution for the first time in over a year. Starting off with Revolution DDH Galaxy-Hero

    Tasting notes:
5 oz taster, 8% ABV, 70 IBUs, Double NEIPA.

Appearance: 5 oz taster glass draft pour, bright orange yellow murky pour, thin fine white creamy lacing. 3.75

    Aroma:
Nice sweet dank aroma, citrus, tangerine, bold and pleasant. 4.25

    Taste:
Consistent with aroma, very sweet citrus, tangerine and pineapple, darkness lost with the taste. Consistent with the style. 4.0

    Mouthfeel:
Light to medium body, lightly creamy, negligible carbonation. Sweetness reigns, easy finish and drinking. 3.75

    Overall:
This is a solid NEIPA, consistent with the style and a nice change of pace when your looking for something sweet. 3.75

Otis on in the background. Yes it’s a great day to be alive!

Devoid of OG Alpine Nelson, there's not a single beer I've ever enjoyed more than this one. Yes, John, sometimes I wish I could crawl right into the can. I love you. Peace...

Well, we all made it to Friday. Whether we made it intact might be another thing altogether.

Owyhee is a NEIPA by Revision, a collab brew with Koholā Brewery in Lahaina, Maui.

I can see the Owyhee Mountains from my office window. While they're not remarkable at only 8,500 feet, the backstory of their naming is really cool. In the year 1819, a handful of native Hawaiians sailed to the Pacific Northwest. Some of them took on as fur trappers up the Columbia river into what is now Eastern Oregon/Western Idaho. British fur trappers came to name the region and the mountains as "Owyhee", an old English etymology of the word Hawaii, because of them. Coincidentally, the word owyhee sounds more like the proper pronunciation of Hawai'i than the common "Ha-why" heard from us mainlanders who don't know better.

Kompaan Double NEIPA. This is called 6/10.
Last of the small stash Kompaan I brought with me. Bars and restaurants are closed here on this Frisian island (like in the rest of the country). But at least supermarkets are open.
    Cheers!

It’s one the sweeter side for Deth but I love it! It carries one of the thickest stout bodies that Rev has ever done. Perhaps @ChicagoJ can chime in too as I’m horrible at describing beer. All I have to say is I’ll happily drink it over and over again.

On to a heavy hitter, Revolution’ Deth Weaver
    [IMG]

    Tasting Notes:
    14.7%

Appearance: 9 oz snifter draft pour. Pitch black pour, creamy tan head leaves beautiful creamy ring around the top. 4.25

    Aroma:
Nice very smooth bourbon runs this show. Sweet oatmeal backs well, and older smoother version of Deth’s Tar. 4.5

    Taste:
Let this warm a bit to get to proper temperature. This tastes sweeter than my recollection of Deth’s Tar, the strong bourbon barrel is smooth and pleasant, not as strong as the aroma would lead, but the potency is definitely felt throughout. Really well blended, produces a fruity taste as well, similar to the plums release in 2019 but subtle and better incorporated. Overall outstanding tasting stout, slightly better than the great 2020 base release. Glad they isolated these barrels. 4.5

    Mouthfeel:
Medium to full body, very creamy body, rich and decadent. Silky smooth, abv strong and it ain’t playin’. Very smooth easy finish, enjoyable from start to finish. 4.75

Overall: Marty and team does a great job isolating interesting barrels, and this variant is no exception. Overall, another great Deep Woods Variant, well worth the trip to the brewery today. 4.5

Sincere gratitude to those who brew and serve great beers!

Final pour here, my favorite Winter Seasonal, Revolution A Little Crazy.

Have close to a dozen at home, but excited to have on draft for the first time since last Winter.

My last planned pour here, next stop is The Beer Temple to check out a WCIPA in Chicago for the first time.
