Good morning. Time to open the virtual bar. Had a nice couple hour doze, then woke up and watched an interesting documentary on the 3/11/11 Japanese earthquake and tsunami. Some scary footage in that thing. Now having a beer with a more optimistic look at the world.

[IMG] Good morning Matt and excellent starter beer for sure. I am starting out with some Vermont juice with Citra, Pacific Sunrise, and @TheIPAHunter Nelson. Clocking in at 8.7% this will start this cold sunny day nicely. Cheers all.

Good morning. Early. Idk when I fell asleep so.

    Flying Fish Brewing
    Abbey Dubbel
    7.2%. Maybe it’s 7.3. Idk

this beer is a glorious dark ruby red color. Smells of clove, prune, juicy plum, licorice, you can smell how dry like sea salt, spicy grass/hay. Flavors follow. Dry salty black licorice type spice somewhat balanced by residual brown sugars and dark crusty breads and bakers dark chocolate. Feel is medium bodied and again dry.

I really like the color of this beer. I have had this multiple times. I was wanting a Dubbel but Total Wine prices are outrageous for Belgian Imports and this is equivalent to $2 a bottle and a $9 six pack it’s a no brainer. I’m moving I several weeks and will be down the street from Flying Fish Brewery coincidentally. Lucky to have a Dubbel year round like this.

    cheers.

    Drank beer. Shower. Drinking beer.
Beer so nice you drink it twice. Time for cleaning.

    Cheers everyone.

one of my favorite bands ever and for those who like classic rock, best described by the YouTube comments as jethro tull meets sabbath without the flute. Just awesome.

Love the BoDeans. A staple on the turntable at our college parties in the 80s. So glad I got to see them at Milwaukee’s Summerfest (2016). My band covered a couple of their songs when we were gigging. Cheers and thanks for the tune!

I have never had the Younger in a bottle, but if it's anything like most TIPAs then it is a whole different beer (and better) on draft. I guess this applies to almost every beer but I think it's even more the case with TIPAs, which hardly ever showcase their true colors when packaged. I've had the Younger on draft a few times and it was great, but I am with you in that the Elder is probably better.

Saw them open for U2 in 87 on the Joshua Tree tour. We thought Lone Justice was going to be the opener and were disappointed. By the end of their set, my brother and I wanted to buy any and every album they made. Too bad they’re not really the BoDeans anymore, as you need both Kurt and Sammy for the real thing.

Ok, a pleasant little beer to start this day...

For some odd reason, had a desire to increase my country tic number this week, so I grabbed a couple from the international section of my Total Wine. Panga Drops from Nicaragua is a decent beer the can claims is small "so every drop is enjoyed cold." I kinda thought it was a little better as it warmed.

    Oh, and happy anniversary, Doc!
