    KBS Espresso...

Notable blast of roasted espresso coffee and a bit of molasses sweetness...

    Good stuff...

The Firestone turned out well. Helluva blend.

    Now for something completely different.

Nice; a pFriem in Illinois or are you in Oregon now? I've had it in Pittsburgh, but only by bringing them back in my suitcase.

Coming back with another, a cross post with New Beer Sunday #836.

    Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Black IPA

Full review linked above, long story short, this is a solid black ipa full of flavor, thin in body, full in taste, sweet over bitter, roast chocolate and malt backed by pine and coffee. Yes please.

Not sure if I have a third in store, but really liked my first two today. Another great beer day!

    X-post from NBW
Finally was able to get some Oxbow beers shipped to me and I decided to go with Sasuga first.

I now see why Oxbow has their reputation. This beer is gorgeous. In the sunlight it almost seems to glow from within.
Sasuga is all about the Brett with the rice and stainless steel allowing the yeast flavors to shine. It is tart, but not sour, with almost ripe fruits, wet hay and stable straw. I'm looking forward to more than a few this summer.

Grabbed a couple 4 packs of this crazy fruited sour at Vitamin Sea yesterday. Not really a sour guy but I do like scorpion bowls (not sure if they are a New England thing?) so opted to get 2 and so happy I did. It’s like a cross of a scorpion bike with a ne ipa. And in a good way!

Dancing Gnome's "River Otter" (4.4% English Porter) Overall Rating = 3.84%

Another cool but sunny day in Western PA, and once again, I'm back from a long hike in the woods. Continuing the theme from yesterday, I'm having another of the beers my son in law brought me from the brewery. Here are my impressions:

    From a 16oz canned on 2021-02-25
A - Dark opaque brown with a 2-finger light brown head and very good lace.
S - Mocha espresso. Caramel covered nuts.
T - Charred bread, black coffee with a short dash of Hershey syrup. Roasted bitterness in the dry finish. Not much residual sweetness.
M - Light body and medium carbonation.
O - Plenty of flavor although more bitter and dryer than my favorite for this style, which is Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter. This is certainly impressive at just 4.4% and I'd gladly have it again.

And to go along with this beer, a Porter song seems apropos:

Hotel beer and a snack - Sam Adams’ Boston Lager:

Not much selection here in COVID 19 world...no restaurant or bar; otherwise, a perfectly fine lager. Cheers from Bethesda, MD!

The weather is warming up, so it's time to drink down my stout supply.

Hard to beat for the price. I actually preferred Hamm's Light in a side-by-side.

    “Lemon Haze IPA” from Leinenkugel.

Looks great in the glass, but...

It smells like a Minute Made lemonade made “whoopie” with a Summer Shandy. Worse, tastes like the typical Leinenkugel “fruit loops” wheat beer base, with hardly a hop bite to speak of. Got eleven more....

Interesting. I'll have to try Hamm's Light some time.

It still surprises me every time I have one and I'm like, "Damn, this is pretty good!"

I keep expecting I'll taste it and be like, "What was I thinking?"
