Had both. Sorry to disagree, but FBS is the clear winner for my palate, contingent on it being fresh to really bring that wonderful coffee flavor front and center.

FBS for me. I love it so much I’ve brewed a clone a few times. Having 5 gallons on tap is magical.

Those two really shouldn't be compared, both are excellent......but there is no finer beer than Old Rasputin!

I've never seen it in 22s. Only draft and 4 pack bottles.

Around here, the roles are reversed: Raspy is the bargain daily drinker, and Founders, while it's generally available, it's premium price keeps it for a treat, if you like coffee.

I enjoy the hell out of a well made coffee beer and FBS is very well made so I'm voting FBS. Raspy is great as well, although no reason for the 16 oz cans. BTW, did the price go up with 16 oz 4 packs? I'm assuming yes, if not, what a steal!

I guess my tastes are changing, I used to love Old Rasputin and Narwhal imperial stouts. But the last few times I've had them they were bitter and pretty thin feeling.

I guess having stouts like KBS, BCBS, and Big Bad Baptist so easily available I've grown accustom to rich heavy stouts. Old Rasputin tastes more like a black IPA to me now.

    You're comparing two different styles.

If $0.50 a beer is your determinant on selecting which is a more desirable beer then hit me up with a Beer Mail message and I’ll paypal you a few bucks.

Seriously though, I’m not sure if that’s the argument you were trying to make but $10.99 for a four pack of FBS is not a bad price at all.

As others are saying these beers really aren’t ideal for comparison to one other as they are two completely different styles (a standard RIS vs an adjunct Oatmeal Stout). But I’ll play anyways....

Both are obviously wonderful beers with impressive track records of influence and longevity on the craft beer scene. But for me, if I’m picking one, it would clearly be FBS. I could probably never have another Old Raspy again and not really miss it, but the idea of no FBS ever again would bring a tear to my eye.

Also, hot take here, I love FBS fresh but actually love it even more with about a year on it. Coffee still def present but mellowed just enough to allowed the base beer characters to shine.

So cool. Charlie Weaver's real last name was Arquette. You know who sprung, indirectly, from his loins.

Both are great classics. Old Rasputin helped get me into craft and I still enjoy it today but I give the edge to breakfast stout, as it was one of the first beers that captivated me. Great question @taint67!
