Or hoppy amber, or whatever other names they went by. At one point, maybe the mid to late 2000's, they were everywhere, and I really miss them. Lakefront Fixed Gear, Green Flash Hop Head Red, etc. I know these still exist, but I can't find them in NC, and no brewery seems to be making this style.

Aside from Edmund's Oast in Charleston, SC with the fantastic Infernal Machine, which is delicious - http://edmundsoast.com/brewing-co/beer/infernal-machine/

Thanks for the info folks. Cheers...

Green Flash Hop Head Red was my favorite. They are not brewing it anymore, so far as I am aware (it's not listed on their website).

Yes, I also miss this style as one of my favorite versions of IPA or more correctly, Hoppy Red Ale.

I feel like all the ho variety that used to exists has all been swallowed up by a see of hazy ipas.

I remember Flipside from Sierra Nevada and Runoff from Odell. They were quite tasty. I'd prefer more of that ilk than the glutton of hazies.

I too miss Red IPAs. I think they are hard to find simply because these are bitter beers and trend now is juicy, hoppy but non bitter, IPAs.

Some added Rye, not sure I was biggest fan of those, but loved The Red C which was my local Sloop Brewing's early stand out beer.

Stone Pataskalla Red was a good one. I liked Sixpoint Global Warmer too.

I was just about to mention this one. One of the best in my opinion and widely available!

Absolutely impossible to find here anywhere, it’s even tough in Asheville and it’s brewed in the area. Why? Not. Clue, but imo it’s one of their better beers with Mamas Little Yellow Pils which is also impossible. Only Dales, what miss by someone.

I miss Lagunitas Imperial Red Ale. One of my gateway beers for hops.

I enjoy red ales as well. Although not year round, in Ohio we do get Great Lakes Nosferatu, Columbus Brewing’s Uncle Rusty and Fat Head’s Bone Head. All three are very good.

I was going to mention Lagunitas Lucky 13 which I always grab a couple 6 packs of if I see it. I agree this style is definitely under-brewed these days.

I vividly and fondly remember drinking ruthless rye, it had such a cool label too. Did flipside come before or after? I feel like I do not remember that one as much.
