Good day BAs! Thanks @Shanex for starting today's thread! Off to a typical March start also - warm and expecting rain. Got to replace an outlet in the bedroom today - a twenty-minute project that I've allotted all day to complete. Today's New Breakfast Beer:



Not good, acrid and cardboardy. Rating 3.06, rDev -16.2%.

 

This one is growing on me. Cheers all.

Just fired up that album. Never heard it before. My life goal is now to be the drummer in a Black Pumas tribute band.

 

Black Pumas are amazing... heard them on public radio in Austin in 2019 and immediately responded internally to it. Also a big and more recent fan of Durand Jones and The Indications. Sounds timeless, sounds MoTown. Love 'em - they're both just good bands for beer drinking, too. Cheers!

 

Checking out Durand Jones now too. Yeah, if I had to guess I would've said this was recorded forty years ago, not two. And yes, I want to be sipping a robust porter to this.

Alright, this is the second of two beers purchased for "science", to determine whether my initial review needed to be revisited. The first of two, Rhinegeist Truth, was experienced via can, and later yesterday, via draft, in the same manner as rated (3.5 - Indicating a Good Beer).

The second is Off Color Brewing's Tooth & Claw, which is my worst rated beer to date.



This is a good brewer, and I have several beers rated good to very good excellent. I rated this early in my rating career, and the can may have been old (they still don't date their cans), or perhaps I was having a bad review day.

Here is my OG review:

4/16/17 (Chicago). 12 oz bottle poured into solo cup. Light colour, thin yellow pour with very light white head. No discernible aroma or taste, Very thin texture, minimal body or feel. Didn't like this offering. Appearance 2.25; Aroma 2.0; Taste 1.75; Feel 1.75; Overall 1.75

Verdict today - I'd probably be a bit more generous, though the beer taste is still faint. Would likely score this in the 2.25-2.5 taste range, and maybe 2.0 or 2.25 overall, but not changing the OG rating, because it is not significant amount of change. I'll still will purchase some of their other offerings which are not fresh date sensitive, but I will not buy this one again.

Calgon, take me away!

Verdict on that Kirkland brew? I am guessing you had to purchase 24. Repeat purchase or pass? Labatt Citra is decent IMO.

 

This was a late arrive to my local market so it's got an extra couple months on it. Delicious
