So glad @eppCOS pulled this out last week. Had a draft for the first time and loved it. Nice you scored cans, will be on the lookout for next year's release. Are those two different year releases?

Sounds like all the more reason to crack open a (low ABV) Porter. Nice music accompaniment (Loookout weekend).

Cooking some baked clams and a nice huge baked potato, this porter will pair nicely. Feels to cold to drink outside after three days of 70s and shorts.

Vanilla Java Porter from Atwater. Its decent and I like vanilla and coffee, but its a little too thin (bodied) and sweet for my taste.

Girl had a day off from school today, so the wife and I followed suit. Hit Barleygarden in Alpharetta for some lunch and drinks outside in a safe environment. Started with Perennial Saison from St. Louis. Then an Ommegang Rare Vos, and finished up with a smooth, local oatmeal stout from Wild Heaven.

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz Snulip glass canned 3/2/2021. This one with Nelson, Mosaic, and Simcoe. Pours a hazy yellow orange with a half finger sticky white head that leaves thick webs of lace with nice retention. 4.5

Aroma papaya, white grapes, melon, pineapple, apricot, and grapefruit rind. 4.5

Taste follows papaya, cantaloupe, pineapple, peach, grapes, apricot, and grapefruit really balanced with a little bitterness in the finish. 4.5

Mouthfeel is big, soft gentle carbonation, a tad sticky but not dry, and at 8% it really goes down easy. 4.75

Overall this one is a winner for sure. Always dig this series and what these guys do. Always trying new and well crafted beers. 4.5 Cheers all

Getting in the morning coffee a little late. This is very sweet and is more of a barleywine to my tastes. Vanilla leads the way along with some praline pecan. Very sticky and im not detecting the over 13% abv. Did I mention the sweetness?

Glorious weather in these parts today, I set up my pizza oven, washed and waxed my truck and did 3 hours of overtime. Kind of an @Ocalafox typical day.

Sadly didn't see any Fuller's London Porter at the two places I stopped, but this is a great local offering.

Moving on to something not so sweet. I missed the period of black ipa / cascadian ale popularity so I was very excited to see this one pop back up in my area. Love the color and hope to see more breweries bring back their mothballed black ipa's (cough, Furious Black).

When I read about a porter tasting thread, my mind certainly went to a standard, robust, unflavored classic porter. Then I opened my fridge and saw this instead:

Stranger Than Chocolate and Coconut Porter

Rob Zombie is one of the few people who can make "crow" into a two-syllable word. "Kah-RO Killah!" Seriously, though, this is a pretty sweet groove; this slaps, as the kids say, right off the bat. (Do the kids still say that? Am I a full generation behind on slang?)

Good day Advocates. Drinking Live Transmission Milkshake IPA from Flying Monkeys in Ontario. Not a huge fan of the milkshakes but once in a blue moon is fine. Plus, this one is less shakey than most.

Some post workout tunes. Cheers. [IMG] [IMG]

Funky Buddha Brewery -- Maple Bacon Coffee Porter (bourbon barrel aged porter) - courtesy of @DoctorZombies

    4.48/5 rDev -0.2%
    look: 4.5 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.5

Deep, dark brown body; huge dense and creamy light khaki head. Immense smell composed of maple syrup, molasses, caramel; a smidge of coffee. The taste amplifies the smell; maple syrup and caramel (again); very mild bourbon note; a touch of coffee bitterness; very sweet overall. Heavy body; thick and oily; lots of residual sugar heft.

Despite the maple, bacon, and coffee adjuncts, the brown ale parentage is quite evident. Perhaps more like an English brown ale (low hop bitterness) / American brown ale (all the adjuncts) hybrid. Call it what you will, this is one amazingly complex and balanced barrel aged dark beers out there.

This is a much appreciated Florida surprise and makes for an excellent beer on so many levels, some of which: online tasting: porters going on today and tomorrow, it's just a great beer to be nursing as I await the snow later tonight and through this weekend, plus this gifted beer is just part of the beauty of an excellent beer trade.+
