Sadly I do not have a porter on-hand for the online tasting. As good a reason as any to make an unscheduled run to the bottle shop, eh? Xoco will have to tie me over until then.

    Revisited March 12th, 2021

    Original January 30th, 2016 ratings: 5.0 3.75 4.25 4.5 4.5

No, the looks don't warrant my original 5.0 rating. The beer still looks nice with very dark, nearly opaque brown body. The head is dense and creamy with a decent presence of rings and lacing inside the glass. The smell, what there is of it, is okay. There is a light roasted grain scent and a bare trace of smoke. No change in the smell rating. The taste also remains the same. It has a nice roasted grain and bitter chocolate flavor overall while the smokiness come through as before. The taste is rich and very pleasant with the feel of the residual sugars, but it doesn't rate a 4.5 to me now.

And so some scoring factors have decreased while others remain the same. This still is a fine porter, not too smokey, but definitely delivering a fine dark beer experience.
    ---------------
Deep, dark brown, nearly black; very dense, smooth and creamy, light tan head; lots of sticky lacing along the glass. Gentle smokiness to the aroma; hints of cocoa and coffee. Cocoa and milk chocolate flavor combined with a light smokiness and nicely balancing bitterness to the malt sweetness; roasted grains; somewhat nutty; very mild astringency. Heavy body; silken; lush.

An outstanding looker that also delivers excellent taste and mouthfeel.
    ---------
In all honesty, I'd like a bit more smoke presence in a heavier dark beer like this, but then again, restraint and subtlety has its place with this kind of beer, too.

Thanks to some recent inspiration derived from chats here with @eppCOS and @HoppingMadMonk I did some running today for the first time in a decade. May get some shoes and see if I can beat the injuries that caused me to give it up.

Beer two is Full Time IPA from Beau’s All Natural Brewing Company in Ontario. As an aside, besides Williams Brothers they might be the most prolific brewer of Gruits. Cheers. [IMG]

One of the few "wow" beers I've had in my life, and I'm not referencing now. Along with Heady, OG Nelson, this in 22 oz bombers (those that know, know), there's not a whole lot that really blew me away. There's more, but I'm trying to keep it concise for the moment. Cheers!

Okay, I'll admit that I am majorly feeling my age at this point. Can't beat that feeling of accomplishment though. Time for a reward beer and some watering. Akademia Brewing Skal Norwegian Wheat Ale brewed with Kveik yeast. I'm too tired to describe it. Suffice it to say it is crisp and refreshing with some unique esters. Cheers BA's!

Love the base version of this smoked imperial stout. I'm getting chocolate, but can't find the orange. A great silky smooth body for being 10% also.
