I think perhaps Harlan's Even More Jesus from Evil Twin is probably the best wine barrel aged beer I've ever had. My spreadsheet says I still have 1 somewhere in my cellar. Maybe I'll have a go at finding it later.

I may not know the meaning, but i'm pretty sure that this eliminates me. I honestly thought a previous hint of yours eliminated me, but you're one of the handful of BA's that I have a hard time scratching off the list in general because of the way you play the game.

 

Is the higher presence of bacterium the result of wine having a much lower abv or is it something else? That's an interesting point that I had never really considered.

 

I love reading his hints, and every so often I glean a little something from them, but they're by far the most abstract. That quality is exactly what I enjoy about them though. It's like listening to free jazz, on the surface it's chaos but beneath is a sea of contemplation and planning.

 

Thanks for that, it wasn’t something I had considered but fits a couple of the beers that I thought were really not my cup of tea (so to speak)

 

Dang you guys got me thinking again. Guess that's a good thing. I now remember a wine barrel aged Barleywine from Smuttynose that was damn good also. Sorry to say there is none of that one left in the cellar think that was a 2013 vintage.

 

I don't like two foods: green peas and coconut. I've never come across a green pea IPA or Impy stout (thank the beer godz!!!!!!!!!!), but I've had many beers with coconut or coconut flavors (thank you Sabro hops!!!) and I usually really enjoy the flavor the coconut adds.

Similarly, I don't really care for wine (for no other reason than I REALLY enjoy beer, so why mess with perfection?), but the few times I've had beers aged in wine barrels, I've really enjoyed them.

Of course, I think I'd enjoy a beer aged on staves laced with hemp rope made with llama hair, so take that into consideration when reading this post.

But keep your Jolly Green Giant Green Pea Milkshake DDH DIPA outta my face.

 

Well as BC found out bourbon barrels can have bugs too. I’m actually surprised it’s not more widespread, but they pasteurize now too.
