In my glass now is Double Dog from Flying Dog. It's a 12% DIPA. And the first thing that stands out is the head and lacing, both of which are standing out for such a high ABV. Usually, a 12 percenter would be fairly flat, but not this one. It's full of hops and pine. Three years ago, I rated it 4.15 which is well above it's BA average of 3.93. But I'll stand by that rating.

Ok in support of Shanex getting to 40 I pulled a 2011 Fin du Monde tripel out of the cellar. Salut! It's taken on some colour for a lovely deep gold.

First taste I got stone fruit and apple with malt in the middle and a touch of honey on the finish. The missus thought she got a little tobacco. This beer has developed a lot of complexity in the cellar. From my last post I listened to that Bombino session which prompted me to buy the album Agadez which is playing in my ears now.

I missed the Porter tasting this weekend, but love them and don’t buy them enough. There’s just not many available these days, as others have pointed out. I just stopped in the beer store and this is all they had. Not complaining though, fresh too, bottled 1/19/21. Now I’m waiting for my pad woon sen, and this was screaming at me from the back seat... so good.

Cold windy day here, enjoying a Barrel Aged Nanaimo imperial stout collab with graham cracker, coconut, vanilla, chocolate and lactose, brewed by Trillium, Evil Twin and Bellwoods Brewery, released in Nov 2019. Super sweet, creamy, rich, marshmallowy lactose vanilla cream notes, toasty coconut, graham crackers, dessert chocolate, some bourbon, hint of oak, really nice dessert style stout. Nanaimo bar being a Canadian treat, I'm wondering if @Insomniac or other Canada BAs have ever had one of these, as it's something I've never seen or heard of outside of this beer. Bellwoods is a brewery from Canada so that seems to be the main influence for this dessert series stout collab. Cheers everyone!

    Almost 7pm here folks.

Many thanks for the kind birthday wishes.

I am wasted, got a few friends came over this late afternoon drinking beers after beers.

I’m currently being a goofball and my GF is semi-amused, semi-annoyed.

Fuck it. You aren’t 37 everyday. Cheers all!

Have a good Monday. Happy 37th Birthday to @Shanex. I stopped caring about age a while back. We have known each other well for about 2 years now. I tried to get his trade box to his door by today, but it didn't work out. But, to be fair I was procrastinating on it hardcore.

Got another 8 of work in last night, and got the next 2 days off. My gf is waiting on a check to clear for some final rent, then she will be coming tomorrow to move in full time. Anyone sick of hearing about Julia can be sure that I do not care, because she is the best thing that happened to my whole life. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of our life.

I had 2 buffalo chicken and 2 charbroil burgers for dinner.

Also found a site with a fake Steve Vai Guitar DIY build for $180. I would totally get that and paint it neon green. Either that or I get an Ibanez RG 6 string with a floating trem for $400 https://www.bargainmusician.com/inc/sdetail/gk_026_diy_guitar_kit/116/1570

    Great NEIPA

A good occasion and with a French touch too. I love Unibroue, we should have more of it in Europe.
I still regret I did not bring the Unibroue glass I had during a couple of months stay in Vancouver. Good to see you brought a nice La Trappe glass!
    Cheers!

Would love to pull special beer out of my stash tonight (thinking of the Marshal Zhukov's, still with the old label). Since I'm not near my stash, a supermarket beer will have to do.

Hey Insomniac your avatar doesn't look like Blue Mountain!

I drink a lot of my home-brew IPA, gotta get our Old Peculiar bottled so I have more beer on hand.

Beer Panda can you believe I totally forgot I had a Fin du Monde glass? I do have 1 De Molen glass. Thankfully Unibroue do a bunch of very good Belgian style beers as I don't get squat real Belgian brews here.

Ontario launched their online Covid vaccination appointment booking site this morning. I went on to book my father’s appointment only to find the site experiencing problems from the jump. I’m no expert, but it seems to me it wasn’t properly load tested, scaled, or some such in the first place. Consequently, I’ve been on speaker phone for hours listening to the same piece of shit elevator music looped repeatedly. What a cluster fuck.

Frustration beer number one. Cheers. [IMG]

Long Trail Green Blaze is up now. While the name makes me think of weed and dankness, that is not the case here. They advertise pine, resin and tropical fruit. They deliver on the tropical fruit. In 2018 I rated it 3.71. Today, I'd probably knock it down a peg. It's tasty, but they just miss on what they say they're trying to do.

    Sounds awesome to me.
Been to Nanaimo (Vancouver Island), but never seen a beer like this. My options for beer sampling were limited at that time. Would love to taste this one or the likes someday.
    Cheers
