    Good morning my fellow BA's.

I'll kick it off this morning with a 2015 Schlenkerla Urbock. Attack is all about the smoke. Smooth and rounded for a great taste sensation from the attack through the middle and into the finish. Medium light body. Smoke dominates but malt comes through. Colour looks to be a little darker than fresh. This has held very nicely in the cellar.

Good morning BAs! Beautiful day here in SWFL, sunny 70 degrees...feels like Spring is over and Summer is about to begin. The dogs have been walked and fed, some kitchen chores complete, it must be coffee time - FBS:

Bottled 1-4-21. Poured at 57°. Perfect way to start my day. I’ve got some El Cat and TBBW beer runs to do later this week; today I think I’ll continue to work around the house and yard, and catch up with a week’s long pile of mail that accumulated during our extended absence. Cheers and have a terrific Tuesday y’all!

Have a good Tuesday. My girlfriend is moving in today. We are not even 6 months together yet. Crazy how things have changed in the last year with regards to moderation and other factors. I didn't know what I was missing without a SO. I just need a little buzz and high to get by sometimes. I hate getting drunk, and my tolerance is way down from before. I remember years ago I would go onto heavy # of pints at the bar. Can never even do that anymore. Still going to visit breweries in the area and ticking on untappd ever since I met my gf. Also today is the 10 year anniversary to me making the worst tasting beer ever. I got some homebrew comp awards since then. I need to get back into it when the weather shapes up. I haven't eaten in over 24 hours, but we are going out with one of my old high school friends for lunch so I will be getting some good food. Also got some magic Cap'n Crunch from my buddy last night. He put it in my car lol.

    Great as always.

May I suggest a trip to Bamberg? Two breweries regularly produce rauchbiers - Schlenkerla and Spezial - with Schlenkerla being the reigning king. Spezial is less smoky and less visited - but both are a good time! If interested, I can recommend a couple of potential tours.

Back to my home-brew, a leftover bottle from Best Case IPA #2. Good flavour I think I get some cherries. The missus says it smells like grape juice and she says it tastes like that for her. I like her insight to tasting she is better at it than me despite me being a Certified Cicerone.:stuck_out_tongue:Persistent head.

Today's New Breakfast Beer; Hoppin' Frog's Den Haag! Bomber of BBA Old English Ale: Rating 4.16, rDev -8%. Still damn good but sharing is highly recommended!

I would love a trip to Bamberg, I really enjoy the rauchbiers. That bing said I am a massive Belgian fan and have been there a number of times. I would like to do another canal tour which would be a great way to get around more of Europe.

Despite my best intentions, I’m not sure how productive I’ll be this morning after opening another beer - Angry Chair Brewing’s “Imperial German Chocolate Coffee Cupcake Stout” (2020):

Poured at 53 degrees. Fizzy brown head leaves a small island of micro dots; otherwise poor cap retention; solid ring; no lace; no legs; a few flecks of floaties. Chocolate fudge nose; a whiff of coffee as it warms. Sweet chocolate fudge up front; vanilla; barely any coffee; sugary graham crackers/biscotti finish. Full body; light carbonation; silky smooth lactose feel, which doesn’t feel adjuncty; minimal warmth from 11% abv. Overall, another delicious variant on the IGCCC theme; I wish it had more coffee; enjoyable chocolate milkshake linger.

    Morning from Wyoming!
Flurries and drizzle have turned everything icy out here. Most roads are closed. Getting an armful of firewood and feeding the birds was a challenge, so drinking beer by the fire sounds like a plan.

Feeling a little stressed. We're supposed to have our driveway cleaned and stained, and the pool opened up. It's 9:30 and no one's here yet.
I think I'll drink this and stop worrying about stuff I can't control.

Yesterday, I bought two Double Dog from Flying Dog. One is gone and the second one was just poured into my glass. I think one a day of this is plenty. 12% is pretty strong for a DIPA. It's full of citrus and balancing malts. A really good beer.

Today is my Sunday. I was thinking about going to Wisconsin to pick up beer for my target in the NBW BIF 13, but my target has been already exposed to New Glarus beers. Also, the snow yesterday, the roads aren't the best yet.

So new beer on my new beer "Sunday", on Tuesday.

I picked this up at work yesterday, and glad I did.

Double Coffeecake from Portage Brewing. Stout - 8% ABV.

    Delicious!

Pours a very dark brown. 3 finger beautiful tan head, that looks sticky, and creamy, as heck. When pouring there was some nice carbonation rising in the glass. The head retention is very good, and there's some nice lacing on the glass.
The nose has vanilla and coffee on the nose. Neither are extremely strong.
Taste - really smooth coffee up front. On the back the vanilla, cinnamon, and chocolate kick in, and the coffee continues throughout.
Very smooth body. Very thick, and a bit creamy feeling.
A very tasty stout, and I'm enjoying it a lot.

Mr President is a very good offering from Brewdog, a double IPA; 9,2% which tries to make a political statement about « President Elect » and the right decisions to take. Not to take too seriously, it’s about beer, rather than painfully debate our political stance. Not on BA at least. Cheers!
