Two bottles of Pitch Lined Pils?! Amazing!

Plus Altbier, The Standard, Smoked Helles. I had a Standard last night. I can’t wait to dig into the rest! March Madness indeed!

Haha, completely forgot I did that. My in-laws out $20 in the sons-in-law stockings every Christmas and every year I say, “Wow, $40 thanks” and it kills*

This is what I did here.

    *to me, it does

    C’mon, distro in CT!

Can’t you hook up with Night Shift?

I was at Yankee Sturbridge today; zero Notch. Guy said it doesn’t sell well.

    14,000 warm DIPA cans, though.

    I think The Standard is a 12 Pack beer, and I mean 12 - 16oz cans!

Tell yankee spirits to try again with them. The switch distributors from atlas to homegrown (unfortunately I don’t believe they are distributing to CT as of now) somewhat recently and ever since the availability of their 16oz four packs has greatly increase, it sells great and it’s delicious. I run the beer department of a store in a small town and I’ve sold three cases of German afternoons in the last two weeks, and that’s just their latest hit, Salem lager flew off the shelves as well and their Zwickel does pretty well too. Some of their smoked and/or dark lagers don’t fly off the shelves as fast (I assume it’s a little too adventurous of a beer for my average ipa loving customer) but they are just as good, I can’t get enough of their Cerne Pivo, beersal Dunkels rauchbier, and the smoked helles. Honestly I’m glad the smoked and dark offerings don’t fly off the shelves so I can grab it before it sells out. If I can push cases of the stuff in the little store I work at in the little town I live in then yankee sure as shit can.

I'm a little upset that they went with Pennsylvania (I think Virginia has very friendly shipping laws too) but it will all be moot later this year anyway so no need to be mad.
I haven't been to your store (I think) nor Yankee Sturbridge, so I don't know the vibe. I think it's important to have people working in the store who are passionate about certain styles. It seems like you really enjoy these beers and that passion is going to show when you try to sell those beers. YS sound like they're not enthusiastic and more hands off in the sales process. That's going to be a big difference.

Notch is currently brewing a polotmavy for their 11th anniversary beer.

100% this is the truth w/r/t selling these beers. I won't out the store, but I recently picked up a mixed case of Farmhouse Pale Ale and Northern Lager. A couple weeks later, I grabbed Sap Haus and Dusky.

I said to the kid working, "I told you I'd buy the Oxbow if you brought it in." I was excited about the newfound ability to finally access these beers from this specific brewery in my area.

Anyway, the response was a very dismissive, "Well, you're the only one." When I responded they're making some of the best beer in New England, he laughed. Like legit laughed (Same dude was yelling about all the "great hazies" in his store on a previous visit). I might have seen the last of that Oxbow in that store.

There are folks excited about lagers and saisons!! Even if the employees only drink New England style IPAs, have them show off great versions of other styles: Allagash White, Farmhouse Pale Ale, Zwickel, Granola Brown. Heaven's to Betsy I feel like this is so simple!

(I know a lot about beer and this employee made me feel like my opinion was trash)

Where I live, sadly, is a Notch and Oxbow dead zone. We just don’t get it. Ever. Anywhere. Southeastern MA. I’m about 20 minutes from the RI border. We are, however, drowning in an ocean of Boom Sauce should you want some.

Sounds like you need to get into gin.

    That's so short-sighted.

You don't need to advertise New England IPAs, they'll move, and there's too many on the shelves anyways.

If you think that's the pinnacle of brewing as a beer buyer/manager, you should seek a different occupation.

There are folks that love lagers and saisons and there are also folks that will buy lagers and saisons if you convince them to. If you carry them and treat them as a burden, you're losing the latter and old stock might alienate the former as well (more for lagers than saisons).

And nobody should ever make the customer feel stupid.

Last time I had gin I was probably only 21 or so. I think I blacked out or went temporarily blind. Can’t remember much about that night.

You know what they say, "If your store doesn't have Notch, that's a real sin. So go back in time, and try more gin."

    Or something like that.
