To be fair, this was also one of my hints...

As already has been said, that's a great looking list of shows that I've overlapped a few on, and some leave me insanely jealous. In regards to the winning answer, and because you brought up Motorhead in a later post, I once saw Motorhead, Heaven and Hell, and Judas Priest at a local amphitheater. My sister hooked us up with insane tickets on the rail right in front of the speaker stacks. That was the first show that I absolutely needed ear plugs at because it was physically painful. To see Lemmy, Iommi, Dio, and Halford in one evening was just fantastic.
I get excited anytime I see a Budgie reference. For anyone unfamiliar, here is one of their best songs, imo.

I once saw Bongzilla at a local bar here I'm not sure how many years ago now. My friend that I went with and myself both enjoy the sweet leaf quite a bit, and offered to smoke out the band before the show. The members all raised an eyebrow when we opened the bag. After smoking, the guitar player found us in the crowd and started asking us if we could get more and how much we could get, etc. They were on the road, and this was long before almost every other state had any kind of medicinal programs, so I understood their dilemma. By the time the show was over we had already had way more than enough beers and smoke, that we just snuck out with the rest of the crowd and left them to fend for themselves.

I can't believe how much I missed being gone from the thread for not even 48 hours, but it's nice to be caught up. More hints coming later tonight!

I have never heard of Bongzilla, but I'm happy to hear a band with such a name exists in the world.

I kind of feel like my target is messing with me now.

Isn't that the song about an Irish girl, Patty O'Lanterns?

Okay, @JayORear. Now that I'm done with hints for my target, have obtained the bulk of the beers I'm gonna light him up with, and have survived a world class hangover obtained Friday night, I'm looking over your hints again and, while some still escape me (I still can't fathom where you're going with the Sopranos), I do have a BA name "related" to Peter Gabriel, I do see you've occasionally popped up in the NW forum, and perhaps I've once remarked upon a fondness for post-apocalypse flicks.
    I AM CALLING YOU OUT

There's also a band named Bongripper. Both Bongzilla and Bongripper played Maryland Deathfest 2016, which I have to imagine created some confusion for fans who were perhaps under the influence of the substance celebrated by the aforementioned bands.

As far as pot-related bands, Cannabis Corpse reigns supreme in both the best name and musical output (although I'm not into stoner doom at all, so there's some bias there).

There's a lot to unpack there and I find myself partly agreeing, but partly not.

On one hand, I totally agree that Ihsahn's solo peak exceeds what Emperor did when viewed through the lens of progressive black metal. "Prometheus" is the most progressive album they did and while I enjoy it, it didn't fully succeed as either an Emperor album or a progressive black metal album.

That said, I view most of their catalog through the lens of symphonic black metal rather than progressive black metal, and in that regard, it's still totally essential. They certainly were at the progressive end of the spectrum, but their best work was rooted firmly in black metal with progressive hues, while Ihsahn's solo work is firmly rooted in prog with black metal hues. It sounds like a semantics thing, but the long and short of it is that they scratch totally different itches for me.

And FWIW, I'd take Borknagar over both Emperor and Ihsahn any day of the week.

Couldn't agree more about what Riley has brought to the table with Allegaeon. I loved the albums with Ezra, but Riley's vocal range opens up so much more for the band.

They basically are - they started out as a pot-themed parody of Cannibal Corpse, but have sense expanded to reinterpreting/paying tribute to classic death metal in general. It sounds absurd on paper, but they manage to pull it off quite well.

Oh, full disclaimer: I too view Emperor more as straight black metal (bordering on symphonic), but they're one of those bands (along with Enslaved) that are cited as pioneers of progressive black metal. I won't really weigh in on that, but when I listen to Emperor, and the first half of Enslaved's discography, I'm not looking for progressive black metal. Like you said: different itches.

I'd never say anything bad about Ezra, as his vocals fit the scope of the music perfectly. But Riley can nail those same growls, and so much more. His live performances are super damn impressive; hearing him do Proponents III sans-Strid, doing all the parts? Holy crap. They invited Strid because it was fun, not because they needed him.

    Hint #1: I’m shipping west

Hint #2: I’ve never shipped to my target before

Hint #3: My target’s state touches one of those oft-discussed large bodies of water

Hint #4: Suprisingly, my target’s state’s flagship university has had some trouble with my state’s flagship school in football over the last couple decades.

Hint #5: My town’s population is larger than my target’s (which doesn’t happen often) but my target’s town has mine beat in elevation, though not by much

Hint #6: The last time I was in my target’s state was for a CART race - a British import (not Irish) won that day and his teammate set a then record for the fastest pole speed ever

Hint #7: Perhaps my target could divine another clue by thinking solfegically

So far behind...You all are mad! I apologize for being absent the last 4-5 days. Been extremely busy with work, trainings for work, and negotiations with my district. It's been full days and nights for weeks now, but it's really ramped up. But I do want to post another hint.

    Hint #4

Just to be clear, I am NOT bragging here. I am just coming up with hints.
Or misdirection... But definitely scribing something tonight for ‘tis all I have time for.
Right now, sadly no beers for this guy tonight. Which really bums me out. Too damn busy.
Not that I am lacking. Too many generous beer friends have made me rich in fermentations.
You know what I mean. Generosity in these BIF’s and LIF’s fill our “cellars” right up
to the breaking point. So much work right now, can’t even enjoy March Madness.
Plus, my Boilermakers are out!!! So sad.
As is MOST of the dang BIG 10. And yes, I guess that’s a hint.

I'll give a breakdown of some of the other hints later, but MEADOW Soprano is an anagram of WOEMAD. I tried to give a clarifying hint later (not the photo) that probably just made it more complicated, but I was under the influence of @kemoarps's hints, which were getting pretty out there.

I also wanted to wrap this up due to your wanting a tracking number, which kind of spoils the surprise anyway, so I'm glad you called me out!

    More soon . . .

We are on page 28. Cheezus. Anyway, time for a hint!

    Hint #18:

And with that, I believe I have eliminated everyone except my target ..... if you can figure out the pattern to my clues, that is.

I'm about ready to ship (at least one box is ready to go), so if my target hasn't called me out by then, I'll re-list all the hints and post the cypher.

HINT #1 - at least one of my hints is a LIE!!!! It is up to you to decide If this hint is the truth or an actual lie itself

Hint #2 -My box could travel East but it will definitely travel West

Hint #3- my peninsula is bigger than anything you got , just saying..

Hint#4 Lady & Gentlemen - Your state has a team in the big dance, ladies and/or gentlemen.

Hint #5 - Wouldn’t we all like to be wasting away in Margaritaville? Jimmy Buffett knows (edit : about Latitudes), do you?

Hint #6- My target’s state abuts a large body of water

Hint #7 - I have played , coached or refereed soccer in your state. I have played soccer within 10 miles of your location, but, that was in college last millennium.

Hint#8- I am shipping north of the tropic of cancer

hint#9 - the name of this fictional character

Hint #10- you’ll need a good guide around these guys. Go to the the authoritarian guide for the answer.

    Hint #11 - longitude -form a triangle

Hint#12 - My town was settled much earlier than your town

Hint#13 - I will try to be less obtuse but will still give you a test. Working with my bud's Euclid and Pythagoreas will help. Imagine a right angle. The latitudinal line is from my location (south of Boston) to you. The longitudinal line is from a brewery in my hints & hauls to you. The hypotenuse is from my location to one of the aforementioned breweries. This is an open book test....and go!

Hint#14 - A message from Captain Midnight for the Secret Squadron

    Attention!

To help carry on our important work , I want YOU to join the secret squadron and wear this official badge and have this secret decoder. Following each week’s adventure, I’ll send an important secret message. And ONLY secret Squadron who have decoders can decode them. But, you must do I as do. Keep yourself healthy and mentally alert…….it’s the official drink of the Secret Squadron
