Here for pickup. And oh boy is this line slow. Talking 4-5 mins per person at the window.

It's unbelievable considering its prepaid pickup

I picked mine up about 45 minutes ago. Was in and out pretty quickly.

Notch ain’t used to this hype. Good for them. Hopefully it puts them on even more people’s radar

My experience is that they don't build pre-orders in advance. You show-up at the window, give your name / order, and they go back to the cooler to build it.

They may not have experience with hype, but they do have experince with crowds of entitled tourists. If they can figure out how to make Halloween season work without losing their minds, they figure out how to streamline the pick process for future releases.

Yeah, just have been like a post-lunch surge around 2 or so. Line is short now (3:30) when I just walked back to my car. Beer garden line is still pretty deep.

I got there just a bit after noon and had five groups in front of me. Was easily twenty minutes in line. One guy to look up the orders then go back to assemble them was not very efficient.

Can't wait to try the pitch lined pils as I've wanted to taste it ever since it was first announced, but that wait on top of the drive means I'm not likely to return soon.

This made me think of a video I came across where the samples are drawn through a hole in the barrel closed via a wooden plug (at 0:30). (also interesting how they break up the yeast cap in the fermentation tuns)

Patrik, do you know what year that video was made?

    Cheers!

    Looks like 1963 in parenthesis.

And given the music they used that sounds about right. It made me think of the first Pink Panther movie (1963).

    Cheers!

Notch has already been on radar, and PLP will/did sell out. Nonetheless, this will be rehashed with a lost/diminishing interest, while quality enhances on a binding sud front

I was probably in line with you. One dude walking 100 feet and back from the cooler when there is a line isn’t a great situation. I look forward to trying the pils though.

I'm used to lines from going to breweries in Cambridge/Somerville/Boston. I got there around 12:30 and there was about four people ahead of me. Didn't take too long, maybe 5-10 minutes? And that's the longest I've ever waited for pick up at Notch.

But since lines don't taste good, on to the beer itself!

This version of the Pitch Lined Pils was different than the last batch I had on draft (in the fall I think?). I preferred that one more, but I also had a draft pour.

Look - The draft I had in the fall was an amber color, very similar to Pilsner Urquell. This one was very much a clear golden yellow.

Taste - Again, the draft of the last version was a similar flavor profile to PU. This one was very hop forward, spicy prickly hops upfront**.

**However, I think it could have been the resinous qualities rather than hops. It was interesting and different to say the least.

    Na zdraví!!!

Didn't get to try the first batch, but did a side-by-side with The Standard. The beers looked identical in the glass, but tasted and felt quite different. Standard was hoppy and punchy, loved it. PLP was a little slicker and have more sweetness and herbal qualities. Liked both, but The Standard to me was the superior beer. But, I plan to do 3 more side-by-side tests to confirm this!

Yeah my first thought is that I prefer The Standard, but Pitch Lined Pils wasn't necessarily "worse", just different.

I believe the draft I posted above was the second batch. Unfortunately didn't get to try Batch #1.

As an aside, had my final can of the Tafelbier yesterday. It pairs really well with the weather right now, damn refreshing beer. I take back my initial assessment.

Loggerhead on deck. Love it. I see my placing a hot poker in that beer under the heat lamps on my porch happening in the coming weeks.
